Description
We are a family operated guesthouse in Jericho, Palestine. The property is beautiful and surrounded by an amazing garden and farm, a very peaceful place. Our team of young local hosts are kind and friendly, and eager to have a cultural exchange and make long-lasting friendships with our volunteers.
Minimum 3 week stay is required, and longer stays preferred.
Sometimes shorter periods are also available for last minute workawayers. -

Aide
We need an extra pair of hands checking-in & out guests and maintaining the house clean and ready. No specific knowledge needed, only being a kind, trustworthy and hospitable person. Help with gardening tasks - We always serve breakfast to our guests with fresh ingredients from our garden. Familiarity with laundry machines is also a plus, but again we can read the manual if we need to. Also familiarity with and comfort around hen coups and collecting fresh eggs is definitely a plus! Last but not least, some computer skills to follow up reservation info is normally required; yet again we can do away with a paper and pen. We need english as a basic language for communicating with the guests, but other european languages could also be useful.
Our volunteers are no longer requested to help in kitchen work. -

Single bed in dormitory, couch, swing, mattress on balcony or wherever it would please you to stay. It also sometimes depends on the guests and room occupancy.

After learning your way around the sites in Jericho, you can offer to lead/join/show our guests around archaeological & religious sites, museums, parks, hiking trails, and cycling routes. Cycling & Jericho go very well together. Jerusalem, Ramallah & The Dead Sea are within close driving distance. Jericho's peacefulness in general and the property, in particular, make for a great environment for reading, music, relaxation, contemplation, and meditation. Evening bonfire and tea is a habit. We also have cats, hens, and 2 donkeys as pets. We also work with a network of similar local initiatives offering all our volunteers a free night in all major destinations and encouraging our volunteers to explore the region using their free overnight stays.

This was a great place to start my journey in Palestine. Ashraf was very helpful in getting the volunteers settled in and full of information. Jericho is a nice quite town, very peaceful and the work is not difficult: general cleaning duties and preparing breakfast. If you love animals its a must do!
