Description
Our little family of 4 consists of Nika, our two dogs Boja (7) and Buga (15) and me, Katrin. Last year, we fell in love with this little paradise above Stari Grad on the island of Hvar that we now call home. Sometimes, we still can't believe it. The peace and quiet, the views above and below — it all sometimes seems surreal. It's the perfect place to forget about the digital world and just be and reconnect with simplicity and nature.
Nika is a documentary filmmaker by profession and is passionate about gardening and woodworking. I'm a musician with a passion for sustainable building techniques and architecture.
So far, we have renovated everything ourselves with the precious help of our friends. The renovation and gardening/field projects will probably continue for a while, and we are always happy to welcome eager helpers and creative individuals with an interest in or knowledge of sustainable building techniques and gardening we can exchange and share knowledge and passions with.

We are having many projects in and around our house and field coming up!
Our next projects include different projects with materials such as hemp, lime, clay, hemp, wood and stone
Clearing out land and gardening around our house and on our field. If you are interested in stone building, Katrin is also happy to introduce you into dry stone walling. She's just finished some stairs in the garden and raised beds for spring veggie planting.
In early spring you can learn with us how to build an outside dry toilet cabin based on Geoff Lawton's example and a platform in the forest for our bell tent.
Other projects we will start in spring include painting and plastering with lime & clay based plasters and paint,
and rejuvenating our windows with new kit and linseed oil paint, where we are happy to introduce you to the task and materials and would love to have eager helpers :)
We only work with natural materials and we are happy to share the knowledge we have gained so far. We are also looking forward to learning new things and exchange knowledge and are even happier if you already have some experience in one or more of these things and learn from you as well :)

Hébergement
We have a tiny house with a cosy queen sized bed and workspace available to accommodate you, located just across from the main house. Until we build one in the main house, the bathroom in the tiny house is shared with us. The kitchen and living space are also shared.
We cook one meal per day, usually around lunchtime.
Sometimes we also make bigger breakfasts or dinner, but we would prefer it if you took care of your own breakfasts and third meals. The fridge and storage are full and at your disposal.
We eat mostly vegetarian. Sometimes we grill fish over an open fire outside.
Autres infos...
We have a bike that you can borrow, which makes getting around very easy. There are also buses. If you're coming by car, there's parking around 300 metres away, since we live on a hill with no proper road access.

Buga
After a tumor and two strokes in the past year, we adopted our little 15 year old grandma from Nikas dad. The slow islandlife and the sea made her recover fast, going for swims almost everyday. She's not the best on foot anymore and is a bit incontinent and needs some medical care, but she's the cutest, loveliest and wisest soul you don't want to miss meeting in your life.
Boja
Always hungry when not asleep, Boja is our 7 year old lady that loves to chat and listen to your thoughts with open ears. When she's not strolling through the forest around our house, she's probably eating herself through the village or helping us out with some gardening or renovation projects. She's the cuddliest and would never deny an invitation to sleep in your room.
