We spent two wonderful weeks with Therese and felt welcome from the very beginning. Therese is a kind and caring host who always made sure we had everything we needed.
The tasks were clearly explained, and the work was both varied and flexible, allowing us to work independently.

Staying with Therese was an absolutely wonderful experience! She was lovely and welcoming and made us feel right at home. The gardens are a beautiful place to work (even in the rain!) and the walks around this area of Ireland are breathtaking. Therese was easy to communicate with and I cannot say enough positive things about our stay. Thank you!!!

A little late, I'm finally getting round to writing a comment.
I spent 8 days with Therese. Honestly, it was a really great time. If the dates had worked out, I would certainly have stayed a little longer.

… read more workawayers. The description on the homepage is exactly right, so you know exactly what to expect.
At the same time there was another Workawayer with Therese. I can say that we made a very good duo and all together we formed a top team. Work, funny conversations, but also political discussions. ... Many thanks at this point for the patience with my sometimes somewhat bumpy English.
We were busy every day with the maintenance of the outdoor area. For example, .... uncovered a stream, cut tall grass, flowers and wildflowers, trimmed everything around a garden shed .... Most of the time we worked on our own ....
I had a small but perfectly adequate room. The bed was great. I immediately felt at home in the house. The food was great and was mostly agreed.
The property is secluded. Even the nearest bus stop is best reached by car. Whenever possible you get a lift to the bus stop, Sligo, beaches or other places of interest. Therese always has a tip for leisure activities. A visit to Kilcullens Seaweedbath was a special experience. An old bath from 1912 and not much has changed since then :-).

From the outset James proved himself to be open hearted, willing, able and adaptable. He agreed to join in a project with another workawayer, whom he had never met and was open to work which, in the end, we were unable to complete because of weather. His open hearted enthusiasm though continued throughout the week for gardening, baking, cooking,

In the time he was here he helped complete a clearing of a very over grown stream and restoring it to it's original beauty, to laying no dig beds, digging out some dead plants, weeding and giving a hand in the kitchen. His use of the "cupla focal" was lovely and his enthusiasm for the Irish language , folklore , music and plant knowledge was infectious. I and the other workawayer found him an engaging conversationalist, interesting , courteous and easy to be around. He meets each situation as it arises and changes ( we had many changes due to weather conditions) with a clear plan and a desire to complete well all he does. I very much enjoyed having him here and have no hesitation in recommending him to any future host.

… read more what we did depended on the weather forecast (which can change quite rapidly in the west of Ireland) but even working on clearing a stream in light rainfall was such a meditative, calming experience; nothing ever felt too hard to manage and Therese was very concerned with making sure we were fed and rested and having a nice experience throughout the whole time we stayed with her.
The house we stayed in was beautiful and full of character, with incredible views from every window. The bedroom was very comfortable and spacious and I slept so well every night I was there.
Therese is such a kind, generous person and she always made time to answer our questions, teach us about her culture and even took us on some fun adventures in the area. Nadine is a wonderful person whom, from the moment we spoke on the phone, I felt trust in and confidence to leave her alone in my home after a few days and to leave my kittens in her care. … read more buckwheat and was very impressed with how Nadine worked, her thoroughness and capacity to engage in hard physical work with curiosity, enthusiasm and creativity. She did an amazing job on clearing my stream which had become very overgrown, clearing pathways, weeding and opening new ground with cardboard and mulch and taking on the dreaded hog weed. Much of this was done in my absence yet it was a complete joy to return and find the garden transformed. I have no hesitation in recommending Nadine to other hosts and am very grateful for her presence here. With sincere thanks and well wishes for all that lies ahead Nadine.

… read more took care of the garden and the kittens, but they were full of laughter, great conversation and good food. She did everything she could to make me feel comfortable and even while she was away she checked up on me and made sure I was having a good time. The garden and the house are beautiful. She explained to me exactly what I needed to do in the garden and provided all the tools, it was a great pleasure to work in her garden. The work is varied and not too strenuous and it was also very important to Therese that I took enough breaks and enjoyed my time here. Therese has connected me with some of her friends and I was lucky enough to take part in a great hike with the hiking group. It's really great to be part of the community here, at least for a while. The bike I was allowed to use gave me the opportunity to explore the countryside on my own, which I was very grateful for. I can highly recommend a stay with Therese and will never forget my time there.

Ione stayed with me for approx 2 weeks in January. In her time here she worked outdoors in the garden, ( cold, very cold!) organised 2 sheds and a hot press, painted 2 bathrooms and assisted with all sorts of daily chores like cooking, washing and being available to others. … read more to listen to some music and poetry, it was such a pleasure. About the garden, it is so beautiful! You will be amazed by the views, the streams, and all the flowers around, it is a great place to meditate and to slow down. The work in the garden was physical but enjoyable, we weeded, strimmed, cleaned the paths, and streams. It was really a rewarding job because we could see how the garden changed then. I had a fantastic experience at Therese’s place and I felt very welcomed from the first moment. The stone house is a beauty, lovely and warm inside and I had a cosy room with a stunning view of the surrounding countryside from my bed.

She gave me different jobs such as weeding, clearing, seeding and painting, all of which I enjoyed very much. It was amazing to do yoga, exercises or just to sit out in the garden.
After a while I was introduced to her whole circle of friends, went on beach walks, hill walks, went one night to the cinema in Sligo and on Saturday to the local market.
All these wonderful days were topped with beautiful warm weather.
