    Description

I moved to the Slocan Valley in 2016. It has been all the peace and quiet and opportunity to provide my own food that I imagined. There's always projects and problem solving and it feels good to be doing it myself and with the help of neighbours. I'm a very grateful part of a small community of doers.

We got farm status in January 2019! We grow a small crop of garlic (Just harvested, August 2019) and have a flock of ducks for eggs and meat. We grow our own blueberries/raspberries/ strawberries/apples/plums and a bunch of veggies. As of late the garden has fallen into disarray as I build my new house. Planing to get it going again for garlic (fall 2025) and veggies (spring 2026).

In September 2019, I plan to construct a giant geodesic dome that will serve as my house and climbing gym. It's already sitting in pieces in my yard... time to put it up! EDIT: it's up! (Oct 2025) and I've moved in. I will post pictures shortly.

And the current project is turning the property into a retreat center. I have a counselling practice (ask me for the link ) and am undergoing training through as a physchedlic-assited therapist.

The Slocan Valley is a very do-it-yourself place. People are relaxed but super handy. Useful hippies. It's also a paradise of mountains and pristine lakes and rivers. There's climbing and paddling and outdoor adventures everywhere.

    Hébergement

Glamping setup with your own private 20 foot bell tent. Has a king-sized bed, couch, small amount of power. small camping kitchen setup, communal outdoor propane on-demand shower, outhouse.

There is some communal food available from the gardens, eggs, and basics like flour, sugar, etc. I would be especially keen to get a communal dinner at least once a week.

I like to work in the morning's when it's cool and go spend the hot hours in the afternoon in the river (can walk 10 minutes to the river or drive to lots of nice spots). Floating the river is a so mellow and nice. there's a couple sections of small rapids that are exciting in an explorer 200 :) In the evenings I do some more work when it cools down.

I try to get out climbing or mounatineering or canoeing at least once a week.

Despite being in the Slocan Valley with no cell service, we do have good internet (good enough for streaming video and video calls at least).

It's a farm! Lots of space for campers. I've leveled a new building site in the woods which would be prime camper van real estate :)

    Possibilité d'accueillir les animaux

Pets have to be able to be around ducks without killing them, and also able to get along with other dogs (1 on the property 2025). There is a 1-strike rule for pets. And the general policy is no other animals until I meet them.
