    Description

Located on the foot of Monte Amiata, a former volcano with chestnut and beech forests, nested in the midst of olive groves, vineyards and a bit of wilderness, surrounded by hills with medieval villages on top of them.

Just a few minutes walk-away runs a fresh mountain river, perfect for having a bath and swim on hot summer afternoons.

    Some projects:

    - maintenance of the olive groves all year round
    -olive harvest from mid/end October
    - Milling and packaging homegrown wheat and flour
    - internal cladding, plastering clay/limestone finishes
    - restoring and building drywalls
    - cutting fire wood
    - planting trees

Learning about basics of living on and from the land that provides a home is something I try to do everyday. I do not have anything in depth I can really teach you, but sharing stories and my way of moving about this world is something I do enjoy. I learned to slow down living here, it was not easy but something I find rather important.

    Some quotes I like:

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." ☆Theodor Roosevelt

"There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle." ☆ Albert Einstein

The nearest town (15 minutes by car) is Castel del Piano, a charming place with all kinds of shops, cafes, supermarkets, piazzas, etc.
It is crucial to have your own car if you would like to discover the area.
I can offer to do some excursions to the Amiata and surrounding but cannot be a tour guide on the weekends.
I am waiting for a foot surgery at the moment and am slightly handicapped, so I won't be able to participate in all physical activities, but I try to be present in all of them.
Volunteers should be rather fit and enjoy working outside.
I do not define the exact working hours, because with outdoors work it is difficult to plan precisely ahead. It depends on things like the season and weather conditions when we start and finish but usually I try to not exceed 4 hours daily, 5 days a week. In the olive harvest time this rule can vary.
I provide a fresh, healthy lunch on workdays. For breakfast and dinner everyone has to care individually, and on free days also lunch is on the volunteers own responsibility.
