Description
Little about myself: I have traveled to almost 90 countries. Lived in 5 different countries . Mostly in Central and South America.
In the center of Guanajuato, I purchased a home. This is part of the project to improve the community and house.
I believe in the power of community and helping the community where you live.
You would help with painting, taking care of the plants, cleaning, sweeping, walking the dog. There are community events like river clean up and mural painting. General items around the house.
I give space for creativity and risk taking. Volunteers have planted seeds for the garden, painted murals, painted wine bottles, and made food bowls for a pet organization I am part of.
We have 1-2 local staff at the guesthouse.
Workawayers will not be managing the guesthouse project.Under local staff manager Elisa and myself, will be manging the house. The primary tasks will be cleaning, gardening, and helping with the dog, Rio.

Improving their Spanish, getting to know the community, Each Saturday, we have a general community clean up day. There is also a great river where you can go jogging.

Under the supervision of myself(owner) and Elisa, the manager of the home you will be given directions on where you can help.
You can help in the following ways:
General upkeep of our home.
Care of plants and garden.
It would be general help.
Some time cleaning the house, some time painting
Walking dog(s)
community garden
composting
Improving Grey water system
painting over tagging in the neighborhood,
installing solar panel lights
planning on project murals.

Breakfast will be provided. Lunch and Dinner is on the volunteers.

8-9am breakfast.
I try to accommodate the dietary preferences for breakfast.
9am to- 1-2pm- 4-5 hours of volunteer work.
Access to downtown Guanajuato- 9 minute walk to centro historico of Guanajuato Plaza Allende.
No need for a car because almost everything is walkable or taking the bus.

Guanajuato is a beautiful city with endless attractions. There are cultural events going on each weekend and weekdays.

Overall was a good stay at the hostel. The work involved looking after a cute dog and running a small hostel with ~6 beds total while Sergio was away. Frances volunteered for only a week but she helped in a variety ways. She helped our neighbor with a future community garden. She helped paint the house with a brighter color. She helped paint the door of the community and take off the tagging off the door. She welcomed guests and prepared the rooms for future visitors.

Marc and Georgina were great workawayers. They helped out with gardening, with painting, organizing. They volunteered for a few days, they had to depart to Mexico City, but those two days- they were respectful and effective in the volunteer work. In addition, they painted the walls and were a joy to have in the house.

Sergio's place is next level. We felt right at home right away. We learned so much in so little time. He's trying to build a self sustainable place and we are sure it'll be amazing. Work was straight forward, and not demanding, we could learn many skills as well. I would recommend anyone to stay and we'll do it again in the future for sure.

Juan Alberto & Haruka were able to volunteer for a few days in my home. They painted walls of the house and did some cool art with glass bottles for future plants. They cooked a great meal too. They were respectful to the rules of the house.
