  • Description

Note: Please understand that we have a completely raw land with no infrastructure on it. No electricity or internet at the moment. No cell data in the area. We currently do not have running water installed or toilet facilities here, but have beautiful pristine drinkable water from our rivers. We have a camping site for the volunteers. If you are still interested to volunteer, read on. Thank you.

We are a couple creating a raw/vegan healing community in Ecuador and now physically starting to build on our beautiful raw land. This community was started as a concept and vision in 2014, and now eight years later is in the early physical development stage. It is primitive living here until we get to self-sustainability with our water, food, buildings, and electricity. This will be a place of spiritual healing for people who want to experience another way of living, to share life with other like-minded souls, and to heal. We will live by example and demonstrate that humans can live in harmony with all life. We are a nonprofit, non-competition, organically producing and growing independent network, forming a beautiful and unique community project.

We do things differently here. We follow from our hearts a set of core values and principles and birthrights. We are raw vegan, so don't consume animal-based products (flesh of animals, eggs, dairy, honey, etc. or eat any food that is cooked) or use nonhuman animals for growing food (manure, bloodmeal, feathermeal, bonemeal, etc.). This will give volunteers a chance to experience their incredible healing journey.

We will do our best to plant veganically and build as eco-sustainably as possible, and to do the least harm to the environment and the most overall good. We don't consume tobacco products, alcohol, or drugs of any sort here.

We are situated in the Amazonian jungles of Northern Ecuador on a mountain that is not too deep or high. You can take baths in our pristine rivers and nature hikes on the mountains to watch a variety of wild animals, ancestral trees, and other sacred plants.

Our land is located in Orellana province not too far from the nearest town where people can buy a wide-variety of fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds. There are a lot to do and see in the area, including exploring waterfalls, nature hikes, breathtaking views, experiencing indigenous cultures, caves, and natural parks with tour guides. As most people in Ecuador don’t speak English, basic Spanish skills is a benefit.

One of us here speaks/writes/reads in native Latin Spanish, so you have the opportunity in your free time to learn the basics of the language. Otherwise, we both speak/write/read in English, and one of us speaks/reads/writes intermediate Brazilian Portuguese.

We need experienced and knowledgeable volunteers to help in our community with many various tasks as written below. Please do not apply if you don't have enough physical experience in some of these areas. Some tasks require heavy lifting.

We need assistance in these areas.
    - Installing running water from our river and rain catchment preferably without using electricity or gasoline, maybe with "hydraulic ram pumps" as we need the water pipe to go uphill.
    - Finishing to build the small wooden camping site with palm roof.
    - Treating and curing wood.
    - Building a raised house using natural building materials and techniques.
    - Building compost toilet outhouses, using natural building materials and techniques.
    - Making furniture without using nails, screws or glue.
    - Creating 2D/3D architectural design plans.
    - Wordpress and phpBB forum help.
    - 4-string ukelele teaching.
    - Hauling water, sand, and pebbles from our river.
    - Creating the gardens and compost areas.
    - Maintenance of paths.
    Plus other odd tasks.

Our future plan is to build natural eco building constructions in the tropical Amazonian jungle, possibly without the use of nails, screws or glue, instead using vines and/or wooden joints utilizing recycled, upcycled, used, and salvaged items whenever possible. Cob, adobe, rammed Earth, and bamboo are some of the techniques we would like to utilize in building.

Carpentry skills would also be a benefit to construct high-quality furniture like bedding, closets, and clothes racks, tables, chairs, and other items. We have some of the basic construction tools, but are getting more tools and materials as needed within our budget. However, our plan is to build and learn to build constructions primitively, but elegantly. We would like not to rely on oil or gas or use power tools as much as we can avoid, but sometimes it is not possible. We would like to do this all with the help of incredible volunteers. Are you up for the challenge?

We are very easy-going and friendly people. We require hard working people, but we don't work people to the bone or record hours. We are not here to babysit anyone. You must have some managerial skills (know how to manage the job or task), and be able to use your ingenuity, intuition, and vision. You may have to work alone for hours at a time. We would appreciate longer stays until each task/job is completed.

  • Hébergement

Accommodations such as a tent, sleeping pad or mattress, and basic beddings items are provided. Volunteers help is usually 4 days per week (with the other days off, generally weekends are free); 15 hours per week without food (only a fruit breakfast is offered each volunteer day). We don’t monitor volunteer hours, but we would appreciate excellent and honest times work. This is very primitive living with no technology (electricity or internet) available at the moment. No cell towers/data available in the area. We are also constructing two outhouses and other basic facilities within the months to come. Again, be prepared as this is primitive living as we are just starting this project from scratch. We live in a pure and pristine natural area with no contamination. There are clean and drinkable rivers to bathe in that are not far walking distance. Clothes can also be washed in town.

Again, only a fruit breakfast is included for volunteers each volunteer day. Otherwise, volunteers provide all their other food.

We go to the nearest town at least once or twice weekly. We leave very early in the morning to catch a bus or taxi/hitch a ride and come in the afternoon with a taxi. We pay our own bus fair and taxi costs are split between people who use the service. Food is relatively inexpensive in Ecuador compared to United States, Europe, Canada, Australia or other Western places. However, some exotic fruits, nuts, and specialty items can be a bit more costly. Most food here are local from Ecuador, but a few fruits like certain apples and grapes are imported from other nearby countries. Other items can also be more expensive. You can bargain with many of the store sellers. There are just two or three bus services daily out from our land, but in town, many buses go to and come from many different places around Ecuador, multiple times daily. Public transportation is excellent here and very inexpensive. Taxi rides are also not too costly.
