For the moment I am finishing of a new house, so most of the work is related to landscaping around the house (building dry stone walls), construction (carrying stones, painting, cleaning) and is quit physical.
I am a Belgian guy living on a organic farm with vineyards, olive groves, fruit trees and a small vegetable garden. My 12 ha property is on terraced slopes with dry stone rock walls (without cement) on the Etna volcano and facing the Ionian sea and the mainland Calabria. The house in Presa is a 3 km walk from town. You will either be housed in the villa or in one of the tiny houses on the property. Depending on the number of volunteers you will have your own bedroom or share it with other volunteers.
Please ensure you have travel insurance.

We share daily lunch and sometimes dinner with you and work together. Sometimes I will take you on a trip to the volcano, beach or alcantara river. This depends on how long you stay with us and how good we get along. If you come during the right season (end september/october) you will learn how grapes are harvested and wine is made. Presa is a small village (80 inhabitants) and is 2 km away. Piedemonte is a bit bigger (3000 inhabitants) and 4 km away. We provide bycicles
I communicate in English,French or Dutch so people who are coming to learn italian, best to skip me, my italian sucks.
I am looking for physically strong people who are not afraid of working hard. Apart from farm help required there is also construction and renovation tasks. I am are restoring an 18th century Palmento (wine makery) into a retreat center, small medieval houses in Castiglione di Sicilia and some other projects. Apart from this there is also some help needed in a holiday rental villa during season. So if you love a challenge and nature, there is plenty of indoor and outdoor work.
I am looking for help all year round, especially during the months of harvest : September, October and November. I welcome all those who enjoy working whether outdoors or in nature with a joyful passion.

I provide accomodation in a 4 bedroom villa where you will have your own room or share it, depending on the number of volunteers we have at that time. You live, cook, clean together and there is a common living space where in the evening you can socialize with each other. We don't provide TV, nor internet.
I will buy food once a week (we'll go shopping together) and there is a budget of 5 euro per working day per person (25 euro per week per person), however you prepare your own meals together with the other volunteers.
I don't provide internet access, but there are plenty of hotspots in town. I drive a Landrover Defender without backseats, so transport can be a little adventurous and bumpy at times. I also provide bicycles. I expect an honest day's work with a MINIMUM of 25 hours a week. We work when the weather is good, which means that Saturday or Sunday are sometimes working days, especially when it rains during the week days. Keep in mind there's no public transportation on Sundays and limited on Saturday. I can't come to pick you up at the airport or in Catania, so please check the dates before booking your flights/trains and so on...
The property is a 15 minute ride from the nearest beach and Linguaglossa is the starting point for trekkings on the north side of the Etna. There is public transport to visit Catania, Siracusa and the rest of the island.
