    Description

⛰️Disconnect to reconnect 🌲 Are you searching for a place to go back to basic, embracing simplicity and reconnecting to nature? Welcome to our yoga and regenerative lifestyle learning space and homestead. After many years of traveling we bought a land in Flatdal, Norway in 2021. This space is not only our home during the summer, but a space to explore different practices of environmental conscious living, recreational activities in nature and a space for yoga retreats.

We believe learning is best achieved through hands on experiences. We want to share what we know as well as learning from others that are interested in a regenerative lifestyle. It will be a continuous learning and growing journey for us as well as for visitors. Parts of the year we are exploring and creating together with Workawayers as well as offering yoga retreats in the summer months. Our aim with the time spent together with Workawayers from all over the world is to create knowledgeable ambassadors for how to live a happy, healthy life in coherence in with nature. We have a holistic approach towards sustainability, perceiving it as a lifestyle and a belief system integrating all aspects of life.

We are completely off grid, growing parts of our own food and using principles of permaculture to create a little paradise. This also mean that the standard is a lot lower then what the average westerner are used to, there is no grid power or water, we have solar power in some areas of the property, composting toilets (that you will have to empty once during your stay),no WIFI and we are pumping water from a river nearby stored in tanks, but no running water on the land. You will be outside the full duration of your stay. We are surrounded by untouched nature, with all the other beings sharing the space with us, this means that you will encounter spiders, other insects and an occasional snake. We are 100% plantbased (vegan) as we strive to live with nature, as sustainable as possible. We ask everyone that stays with us to respect this and not bring anything non plant based to our place, thank you.

    Update season 2026:

Yoga, hiking, regenerative living energy exchange, 30th May - 10th of June (this is a set dates program, so you have to be available these exact dates)

Do you crave nature experiences, connecting to the earth, new friendships and time to be in the present, feeling the elements? Are you curious about off grid lifestyle? Welcome to the Norwegian wilderness. We are excited to present a work/karmayoga/energy exchange program for 2026. Yoga, hiking and working the land for the ones of you that want to get your hands dirty, and your bodies tired. For this program we offer 2 spots for free for low income travelers. More information about the program here (schedule further down) ⬇️

In this program we offer daily yoga (1,45 hrs class a day), 3 meals a day (a lot more basic then in the retreats), classes on yoga philosophy/sound bath, and hikes on the days off. You help out working the land and other tasks like cleaning the common areas and help preparing lunch for everyone. Working on the land is very physically hard work; digging, carrying wood/stones, wood chopping etc. it will for sure get you in good shape! We are developing our food forest and and the one year veggie beds in this period. In the total 12 days, you will help out 8 of the days, between 4,5 hrs (6 days) - 3 hrs (2 days) per day. This is for you who are on a low budget but want to dive into the world of off grid regenerative living and yoga.

This program takes you back to living a very simple life, off-grid (no electricity or running water) in nature, while getting hands on experience in off-grid lifestyle. Regenerative lifestyle and permaculture are at heart of the development of the place. We want to offer you a grounding experience where you not only reconnect to nature but where you reconnect to yourself. You can expect to feel very tired in the end of the day (but a good tiredness, not the one you have from sitting in front of the screen😄). We offer you nature experiences and views that takes your breath away, icy rivers and lakes, disconnecting from your devices, healthy wholesome meals, new friendships, connections and laughter around the bonfire and taking yourself outside your comfort zone, the only place we grow as human beings.

You have to be committed to learn about sustainable lifestyle practices and be comfortable with a very simple way of living, far from what you are used to in your normal life. We are ‘off grid’ in the Norwegian nature with the challenges that the cold weather here brings. No running water, composting toilets and physically hard work every day. You will be living in a glamping tent/hammock, so you will always be outside, sharing the space with all the other loved inhabitant on our property; frogs, spiders, bees, badgers, moose, deer, hares, an occasion snake and many more. Its important that you respect the nature and all the beautiful other beings that live on our land. You will also have new nature experiences, lots of new knowledge through a hands on approach and human connections that you will remember forever.

    Meals
Healthy, wholesome, plant-based meals is an essential part of regenerative living. We focus on local, organic ingredients that will offer new flavors every day. Some of the vegetables will come straight from our organic vegetable garden as well as wild harvest form the surrounding forest. As a part of the hours you are helping out, some days you will take part in foraging for the meals and helping in the kitchen to make lunch. Lunch will be the biggest meal of the day, while breakfast and dinner are smaller, simple meals. After all the meals you clean your own plate.

    Yoga
Our approach to yoga is a holistic way of integrating yoga in all parts of life, not only on the mat. Somethings that go hand in hand with regenerative lifestyle and permaculture. You will have an introduction to the philosophy of yoga.

‘The way we see the world shapes the way we treat it. If a mountain is a deity, not a pile of ore… If a forest is a sacred grove, not timber… If other species are biological kin, not resources... Or if our planet is our mother, not an opportunity… Then we will treat each other with greater respect. Thus is the challenge, to look at the world from a different perspective.’ – David Suzuk

    -------------------------------------

You should have an interest in vegan cooking, as healthy wholesome plant based food is something we are all passionate about so you will use some time in the kitchen/foraging in the forest. You also need to have respect for nature and all the beautiful other beings that live on our land(snakes and spiders being some of them), not to mention be ok with a very basic 'off grid' lifestyle, you are outside all the time, with the challenges the weather gives us in Norway. Living off grid requires hard work, sometimes people have an idea of what this way of living is that is far from reality.
    -------------------------------------

    About us
This is a dream that has grown and taken shape the last couple of years while traveling, growing and learning around our beautiful planet. We have ourselves worked many places around the world as Workawayers. Myself (Marita) and my husband Sabin are the founders and we are both very passionate about nature conservation and sustainable living. After traveling the world for years, working with environmental causes, teaching yoga and learning from people of all paths of life, the dream is to create a space close to nature for people to learn about sustainable living. We want to share knowledge with anyone who wants to start the path towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Any measures, small or big, makes a difference in the world.

    Marita
Marita grew up in Norway, but has for the last 18 years been conducting research, studying, traveling and working around the world. Marita has a master’s degree in sustainable development. She has 1600 hours advanced yoga teacher training from India, as well as a variety of courses in Ayurveda, meditation, pranayama, sound healing etc. She has been teaching yoga across the world since 2014 and working with eco-projects, permaculture and plant-based food together with her husband Sabin. She is now combining her biggest passions in life; sustainable living, yoga and environmental awareness.

    Sabin
Sabin grew up in Nepal. He studied IT at university, but soon realized that he was searching for a life with more meaning, peace, and mindfulness, connected to nature. He built his own guesthouse and restaurant in Pokhara (the main hub for starting the Annapurna Circuit), and while he was running his guesthouse, he discovered yoga and the amazing peace and challenge that is found in the Himalayas. He completed his mountain guide licence in 2018 and has since then been running trekking/yoga retreats parts of the year with Marita. He is a certified yoga teacher as well as very passionate about veganism.

The help we need will differ according to the time of year. We are only in our little home in Norway half of the year, April - October, and the different months offer different tasks. We are continuously working on the garden, trying to expand little by little, working with permaculture principles. There is normally some construction tasks going on as well as developing new ideas for the property. We are using wood from our own land for creating so there is alot of physically hard tasks. The times we have Workawayers we need help in the daily chores, cooking for the team, maintenance and general cleaning (be prepared for alot of dishes as we are normally many people living together and everyone has to do their days of dishes!). If someone has skills in photography/social media/marketing/website building etc. we need help in all of our online presence as well.

You will be staying in shared (between male and female) greenhouse/glamping tent, depending on which period. The May period you will stay in glamping tents, the July/august period you will stay in a greenhouse. You are in the full duration staying outside, surrounded by nature and breathtaking views, but also hard weather, cold nights and all the challenges that follows living outside. There is no wifi.

3 meals a day: we provide you with ingredients and you have an outside kitchen where you can cook, normally Marita makes lunch for everyone when there is nothing going on in the center. When there is retreats going on you will have the same meals as the guests, we all eat together. All the meals are wholesome, plant based and organic as far as possible. As we are vegan, we ask you to not bring anything non vegan to our space.

Sometimes there will be the possibility to join yoga class in the morning for the workawayers. When we have retreats there is the possibility to join the activities in the retreat outside of the helping hours.

The area around is full of activities for every nature lover. There are many hikes in the surrounding mountains, short or several days ones. Forest walks, swimming in the nearby river, visiting lakes in the area or maybe just chilling in Hammock enjoying the view.
