We were really glad that Mailin was with us. She is a very pleasant, attentive and reliable person, with an extraordinary amount of talent: Skilled with her hands, wonderful with animals, a gifted freediver and a great photographer. We were able to entrust her with our farm and even go travelling for a short time. We will remember the profound

The time with Karsten and Christina on their beautiful Finca was truly amazing. They built their own little paradise and I am very grateful, they've shared it with me for some time. These two are such heart warming people and cuddling with the animals first thing in the morning is the best way to start a day filled with breathtaking views, hands

Tom is a very reliable person, honest and fun to have him around. His craftmen skills are outstanding and we are so thankful that he did lead and take care of our project building a new storage house. We can totally recommend Tom.

What Warm and Gracious hosts are Christina and Karsten. Always making sure that I was comfortable and had what I needed. What wonderful memories I will have of the Breathtaking views, the warm greetings from the animals and the (child like) laugh of the Petrels(birds). A very healing and relaxing time I had, except for my minor back issues. Muchas

Originally our intention was to spend 2 to 3 months with Karsten and Christina on the island of El Hierro at their off grid bio finca. Thanks to the pandemic and the snail like speed of the Spanish government resolving paperwork we spent around 10 months in this paradise in the end.

… read more history of workaways as this was our first stay for such a long period of time. This is a place you really need to spend a minimum of one month just to get a grasp of the daily finca life and responsibilities as a volunteer.
As hosts- both Karsten and Christina are incredibly friendly, understanding and overall fantastic. From the first day they went out of their way to help us, allowing us to overcome some obstacles and remain in Spain. (some visa issues for the American) They gave us an ultra warm welcome and made sure we had everything we needed at the finca. They took the time from their busy daily lives to show us around the island, invite us for dinner and beers by the sea, the opportunity and equipment to go snorkeling in crystal clear waters, cooking typical German dishes and so much more.
The finca is a green paradise in an otherwise not so green place. It is filled with life from animals, plants, trees and gardens, all things that in time you will learn to take care for. There are daily tasks here and of course larger long term projects. A good communication rythm with the hosts in the form of daily or weekly meetings, text messaging and just seeing one another around the finca made for easy working days, typically Monday thru Friday, 8-2 with flexibility depending on tasks that need to be completed.
Once you get the lay of the land here you can be more or less completely self sufficient. Your own vehicle helps a lot. The main tasks for the finca stay relatively the same while the larger projects always add a challenge and interest to your working projects here. Animal love and care, garden, nursery, trees, planting, harvesting, composting, water and irrigation system, building and repair of different things from tiny houses to furniture refurbishing and again so much more.
Things here on the finca need to be a bit more structured than what you might find at a typical workaway. The hosts are often busy in their daily lives and being self motivated and self sufficient without someone looking over your shoulders daily goes a long way into making your time here enjoyable for all. There are a few apps you might need for your phone like and hour tracker and task tracker that also make life easier.
Overall our experience here was amazing and we can highly recommend spending time in this paradise. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about life as a volunteer on El Hierro.
Good luck and happy travels.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

You will be the most lucky person if Mira & Josh decide to stay at your place. Both have stayed together at our farm for 9 months - a time we don't want to miss. And the most amazing part was: Josh & Mira love the volunteer lifestyle and really live at your place with their whole heart & being. So it is an enriching presence you will get (and also our animals loved them). Furthermore, Josh also took a team lead, instructing other volunteers. And Mira has incredibly nice & professional decorative ideas as a room designer. We could write a novel here... So if you have any doubts if you should say yes to Josh & Mira: You definitely should give them the boldest YES possible.Photos

Why only four stars? It was indeed an amazing experience and I loved being outdoors creating things with my hands and staying in the most spectacular island. The hosts five stars for Karsten and Christina. The missing star is because living in a tent is not an option for me for more than a weekend:relaxed: This was clear to me from the start so no

The finca is in a remote area but the hosts brings you to town when you need to do some shopping. Perks like free diving with Karsten or going to concerts, workshops, parties the list goes on. Perfect place for me:thumbsup:Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

We enjoyed Pierre's stay a lot. He is a very kind person and very helpfully did outdoor electric installations at our farm as well as some nice wood carpentry (lamp posts). Any time, we would be happy to receive him again.
