Description
Hey everybody,
***Last update 26/3/26***
Currently looking for help in outdoors work, and gardening . If interested in giving a hand please drop us a line
* * * *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***
My partner Dirk and me (Maria) have chosen to live in the North part of mainland Greece, Central Macedonia, Goumenissa at Mount Paiko region after traveling and living around the world. After Aug 2012, in our family, we also have our oldest son Achilleas and after October 2014 our youngest Arionas!
The small town is located at the foothill of mountain Paiko, our perception of 'heaven on earth'.
We are into all short of projects, on tourism promotion and outdoors activites for this area, along with running a small traditional guesthouse ('home away from home' as our guests describe it!) .
Goumenissa, the town where the guesthouse is located, is a 4.500 people town, at the foothill of Mount Paiko, where one can find five visitable wineries, a music culture of self taught brass band musicians and a few bars and tavernas, quite vivid during summer and less busy on winter.
Mainly we are interested in getting some help with preparing and working in the garden, and when the weather does not permit help with the everyday work we do at the guesthouse and the house maintenance or language training of the boys (german, dutch, english, spanish). Digital marketing / content creation for the guesthouse could also be an option
We are looking forward to receiving structured, visitors that
- share our passion for nature and working outdoors
- are willing to share knowledge and experience, teach us what they know, but also learn from us
- are broad-minded, easygoing and appreciate the value of laughter and humor in life!
- are willing to help us around on our daily duties and plans
- take initiative and are self-motivated in contributing
- have ideas and positive energy to contribute to the development and marketing of this area we live in.

Your help could be offered along the week or in 4-5 days so that you get the time to jump on a bus and get to Thessaloniki (second largest Greek city) in an hour drive and from there access through bus service the beach resorts of Chalkidiki and Pieria region or spend some time in the nearby cities of Giannitsa, Edessa, Veria and more or...simply trek and free camp on magic Mount Paiko.
--IMPORTANT--
We would prefer not to commit on time schedules and plans until we first get to spend one week with you, to get to know each other better, and see how our 'chemistry' works out!
Also, please make an effort to arrange your travel plans in such a way so that you can reach our place by 18:00 hrs.
Looking forward to your applications...

Hébergement
What we can offer is private accommodation in the guesthouse service rooms (room for 1 or two people with private bathroom), use of all guest house common rooms and wi-fi internet access as long as...a place in our table and access to our fridge! If you are a good cook, then let's exchange recipes and take shifts in cooking!! :-)

Autres infos...
We can only feel good with positive people around us, who are interested in getting to know us....so if you have some kind of huge mess you need to sort out....and you feel like spending most of your time here alone...please don't bother coming!! ;-)
We HIGHLY appreciate people who can take initiative and do not need to be asked all the time to do things. Our day routine is pretty much straight forward...we totally understand that people would have things to ask or that they might need to know a few things before they start really contributing....but after certain experiences we had with travellers, what we don't understand, is why people would get into all this trouble of entering the network and start arranging visits to people, UNLESS they have sth to offer or a contributing, mutually exchanging mentality!!!
ALSO, again based on our experience with travellers, in case you plan to spend your days off not in travelling, exploring, experiencing, tasting and you choose to just stay inside and rest please know in advance that on most of the 'day-offs' of our visitors we also make our own plans. You are of course welcome to stay and follow your needs, but you will also need to make your own arrangements for your meal plans since we are probably less around on those days! Thank you! ;-)

It runs 5-6 times per day and it's 75 kms drive, aprox 1.5 hour NW to Thessaloniki to reach Goumenissa, which is the terminal stop.
When In Goumenissa ; You may get of the bus at the 'Platia' stop (Square). The guesthouse is the only one in Goumenissa, so ask for "HOTEL" any local- , right after the central square and the taxi stop you meet us on your left. It's max 10 mins walk to our place.

We happened to arrive at the time where a lot of things were going on at the guest house, but that was nevertheless a lot of fun, and this way we got to meet really interesting people who stayed at this super cosy and home-like guest house. It was my first experience but I didn't think to be so welcome by their guesthouse and for sure I wasn't expecting to enjoy so much working in the vineyard with Dirk. I might go back some time, see you soon guys!
How can we use words to describe these two!!??
From the first day they arrived there was an excellent spirit of communication and mutual understanding! Bev, is calm, sweet and smiley, always there and willing to give a hand in whatever might be needed. She got along greatly with our at the time 1 year old son.
