Description
Hello and thanks for looking. I am currently full until March 2025. Thank you!
Aloha! I am a retired activist splitting my time between Thailand and Hawaii. I have a simple home in the center of the beautiful seaside city of Hua Hin, Thailand; about a 10 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Hua Hin is where the King has his summer palace because it is so beautiful here and now you can enjoy it too.
I have wonderful neighbors that are excited to share their language and culture, or just a morning greeting - dependent on your interest. One of the neighbors offers a laundry service, if you need. I have Wi-Fi and Disney+ streaming on the tv.
Also, despite being in the center of the city my street is very quiet because the neighborhood is only one looped street located behind a hotel property. The location behind the hotel offers the peace of mind of having a very safe neighborhood because the hotel has 2 or 3 security guards on duty in the area at all times.
In addition to the safe and quiet neighborhood, the city center location means everything is in walking distance. There are: beaches, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, convenience stores, a mall, banks (for money exchange), a hospital, barber shops, a gym; almost everything within a 2km area. There is even a popular night market with live band every night and a major walking street a few blocks away.
For the stuff that is not walking distance, like waterfalls and water parks, Grab App is a great option that can get you almost anywhere in the city area for under 250 baht ($7 USD), round trip. If you are comfortable finding your way, tuk tuks are cheap, easy and available close by too!
My home is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath end unit row house. It's like a townhouse. There is an upstairs balcony and downstairs patio space, small kitchen and large living room with air con. I have a few potted plants outside that are watered with a timer and the dogs have a toilet space outside.
I have two well behaved dogs that live inside the house. They have their own beds and like to spend most of their time eating, sleeping or wrestling. The smaller dog loves to cuddle and play fetch, while the larger dog prefers to get belly rubs from people and spend her playtime with the other dog.
I take the dogs for a short walk every morning and evening. I do not walk them very far, just around the loop - about 250 meters/yards. The small dog weighs about 8 kgs. The large dog weighs 50 kgs.
If large dogs scare you, this opportunity is not right for you. :-)
I also want to state that I am unable to furnish food for this workaway. I do have some basics in the kitchen that visitors are welcome to use but I cannot supply food. There are 2 grocery stores less than 1km from my home. A good expectation for the monthly cost of food for one person in my city is about 250 USD.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Thailand is a magnificent and culture rich country. Hua Hin has many things to explore and learn, as it is populated by people from all over the world. In my neighborhood, I have neighbors from Thailand, Nepal, Burma, the Philippines, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Estonia, and the US. That's just one street in this culturally diverse city.
There are religious buildings and monuments from several religions and cultures here in Hua Hin and if animals are your interest, we have an Elephant Village to explore and possibly volunteer.
Most of my neighbors speak more than 3 languages, so if you want to have conversation practice, brush up on your language skills, learn phrases in a new language or discover new cultures from around the world, my neighborhood is the place!Aide
My expectations for assistance from travellers include: light house tasks (cleaning up after yourself, any guests you entertain and the dogs), feeding & watering dogs, checking the dogs for ticks daily, hosing/washing out the dog's toilet area 2x daily (this takes about 10 minutes and does include bagging poops), checking plants, walking dogs 2x daily, receiving deliveries to the house and advising me of delivery, providing affection and companionship to my dogs, keeping the home tidy and handling any emergencies if they arise.
Generally speaking, you will spend between 2 and 3 hours a day handling tasks, mostly in the morning.
I prefer long stay guests so that my dogs are able to have the same person caring for them during my absence. My typical travel schedule is to be in Hawaii for April and May, then again in November and December. For this reason I am focusing on finding travellers to visit during those months. Thailand has a free 30 day visa exemption for MANY countries and offers a 30 day visa extension for 1900 baht. I am willing to cover the cost of the 1900 baht visa extension fee if you would like to stay the full 45-60 days that I will be away. As I just mentioned, I expect to be gone 45-60 days for each of my 2 visits home to Hawaii and hope to find a person, couple or small family to stay for the entire time I am away each trip.
If you cannot stay the full time, please reach out anyway because I may need your help!

I love to communicate and share ideas and the best way to do that is to learn another person's language! If you want to practice your English with me or are a fluent English speaker willing to teach others, please consider my listing. In addition, my neighbors speak multiple languages and are always happy to have a chance to practice or learn.Hébergement
You will have your own bedroom+balcony with locking door and key; you are also welcome to sleep in my room while I am gone since it is larger. The bathrooms are shared, as there is one bathroom on each floor. There is air conditioning, Wi-Fi and streaming on the tv. There is a small kitchen where you can prepare food or reheat leftovers. I do not have a microwave, I do have a toaster oven, kettle and induction cooktop. You will need to supply your own food and can use most of the refrigerator because I will not be here.
I may have a swimming pool set up on the upstairs balcony; if it is set up, you may use it but please be careful and responsible when swimming.
*Please do not smoke tobacco inside the house, you are welcome to smoke outside at the patio table.Autres infos...
Hua Hin is an amazing place to live and visit. If you love the shore or swimming in warm ocean water, you will have lots of time to enjoy the beach that is less than 500 meters from my home.
We also have water parks, hiking, temples, shopping, all sorts of things to enjoy during your free time - many within walking distance!Informations complémentaires

The second bedroom has a small desk and I have reliable Wi-Fi for digital work needs. I selected the option for "Limited internet access" on the listing because I do not normally check messages daily, not due to a service issue. My Wi-Fi is reliable and I have a back up signal from my neighbor. I plan to include a speed test screen shot for the Wi-Fi speed in my photos gallery. Also, feel free to message me and ask if you would like me to run a current speed test. 😊

I can accept your pets into my home however your pet must be able to be friendly with my 2 dogs. My dogs are not aggressive to cats or other animals but my dogs are young and curious and will want to smell and possibly play with your pet. My large dog used to love playing with my daughter's kitten before we moved to Thailand and my smaller dog LOVES playing with new friends. Both of my dogs have had plenty of socialization with other animals.
