GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
We live in a (still) traditional village surrounded by hills and forests where time goes in a different pace. For many years our household is part of an intentional community group that thrived in spite of challenges. We keep on our beliefs and values and go on experimenting simplicity with permaculture and technology, weaving a social web of people interested in alternative living, growing own food, ethical consumption, choosing human interaction to digital loneliness.
Since 2009 the farm has known different stages. Currently on the farm there are Teodora, 50 yrs, working as freelance cultural consultant, Constanza, 85 yrs, an energetic senior lady and Maryam 50 yrs, a passionate chef from Iran. We are part of a close community of like-minded international families who look out for each other: a Belgian-Romanian family of three, a German couple devoted to their horses, a retired German Waldorf teacher, a Belgian engineer with a passion for low-tech meaningful innovations, and several wonderful Romanian neighbours.
2026 plans
The ideal volunteer plans to stay 2 weeks or longer and has good social skills, in particular with elderly and children under 5. We appreciate gardening skills (i.e. knowledge of usual vegetable plants grown in Europe and most common weeds; approaching gardening work with a good mix of speed and care) as well as practical skills to confidently undertake small DIY projects around the household.
Examples of projects:
- maintenance work for garden trenches system (beginner skills, physically demanding)
- building new chicken or rabbits shelters; (medium skills)
- set-up of a dry toilet and an outside shower in the garden (advanced skills)

We live in a multiethnic village in Western Romania (Serbian and Romanian population) along with some newcomers from the nearby city Timisoara, Germany, Belgium, France and Iran. The locals are friendly and willing to interact with international visitors. The travellers can learn here about Banat area as an interesting historic experiment of co-habitation by people of different ethnic backgrounds as well as about new nomads searches (that included both failures and successes) for a balanced lifestyle. The nearby city of Timisoara is interesting to visit and to experience contemporary culture, as the city held the title as European Capital of Culture in 2023.

Aide
The typical tasks we need help with - gardening, picking fruits and canning, small renovation tasks (plastering with lime and sand, small buildings and repairs such as renewing a toilet or a shed), organizing activities with kids in the village.

- In the cold season a room with two places in bunk beds for helpers & other visitors;
- in the summer accommodation is provided in a summer cabin;

Time off activities: we have a cinema system with many documentaries; lots of books on Permaculture and sustainable living; materials to learn Romanian (for those who wish so). Bikes for trips around the village. On weekends volunteers may choose to go to Timisoara, the next big city where there are lots of entertainment possibilities.

Free spirited tomcat, we see him in the cold season enjoying his pillow indoors or at meal times in the warm months.
Bruno (6 ans)
Bruno is a large dog, mixed breed, adopted from the village. He has little training (only knows "Sit" and "Wait" before jumping out for walks. He is free at night to 'inspect" and "protect" the yard. He spends part of the day (usually mornings) tight because my 80+ years mother is afraid of him jumping and her and destabilising her balance. He loves running and exploring around the village, we walk on a leash across the village and then he runs free in the fields or forest.
