Description
It has been almost 10 years with the privilege of Kacheera in my life. The land and the camp has gone through evolutions to reach where it is today. As we hold space for Nature while the land around us transforms, we are rewarded every day with the beauty of the place. The camp is home to Matayo & Juliana and their children Becky & Liam who live on the 35 acres. My three children and myself, get down to spend as much time as we can, between school and work commitments. It is a space that can capture your heart and bring peace.

You are welcomed into the Kacheera family warmly by Matayo & Juliana. They have lived in the area for many years and know much of the cultural heritage of the area. Learn about the iconic long-horned Ankole cattle of the area and interact with the camp herd.

Public transport can be used to travel from Kampala in the direction of Mbarara town, you'll want to get off the bus at a small trading centre called Akageti. From there transport to the land is usually only made by boda boda (motorbikes) or in our car. Riding around on the back boda's is a beautiful way to take in the surrounding country.
Lake Mburo National Park is a 20 minute drive from the land where game drives, boat trips, luxury & budget lodges are found. From the land itself there are many nice walks to take in all the bird and animal life of the area. There are many other safari options in the south west including the endangered mountain gorillas who are only are half a day's travel away.
We're always pottering on with one job or another. When the heat of the day is too much, a retreat on the cool balcony of the house is called where a post lunch snooze can be had or jobs can continue in the shade.Informations complémentaires

The project is in the beginning stages, so there are many projects to get involved with. My task was making signs, building a website and helping another WorkAwayer build an obstacle course.
