Description
Please note: we currently have enough folks helping and working out well, please reach out if you want to get in touch to start a conversation for any changes as summer goes on. thank you.
Hello! We are Paul (53), Matt (25) and Cypress (2), dwellers and tenders of a beautiful 6+ acre plot of forested land close enough to hear the waves meeting the beach of the Salish Sea on Lummi Island. We are eco-minded with passions for food processing, harvesting, foraging, crafting, movement, yoga and dance with a desire to reduce our footprint and cultivate community and resilience.
We are building and cultivating a place to remember what matters most for all who live here and visit this magical land. We have plenty of on going projects and maintenance of place, infrastructure, gardens etc. We intend to curate a beautiful place to thrive for us and the next generation, and to live simply and mindfully. Here on our land one can immerse themselves in the wild and natural beauty of a thriving forest. Walking trails, meadows, scenic views, quiet forest nooks and bountiful foraging opportunities. We are not a production food farm, yet we do aim to grow food to supplement our needs thus reducing our dependence on bigger food systems. We do not pretend to be a homestead, but we do orient our choices and efforts towards simplifying and more resilience to the changing times.
We have a beautiful movement space with gorgeous cork floors in the works (almost complete) for hosting small Contact Improv Dance Jams/movement/ceremony/yoga gatherings etc this year. Hosting and curating a place to remember is a key aspect of our vision.
We are on the Northwest side of Lummi, a 7 minute drive from the ferry landing. Just a 10 minute boat ride to the mainland and from there a 25 minute drive will take you to the heart of Bellingham. Here on the island there is a small store with very basic essentials, a café, and a small produce farm. Carpooling to town for groceries and supplies may be available.
The island has much to offer in the way of exploring; hiking trails, bicycle friendly, beaches and beautiful sunsets.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Helpers can reap the rich benefits from living close to nature in a beautiful Northwest forest setting with opportunities for solitude and self exploration, along with some gathering and kinship. Learning opportunities may include forest care, gardening, landscaping, basic construction, crafting, and foraging.
We are on a well and have very limited water in the summer. We ask that helpers are tidy and mindful of resource and consumption. We are calling in folks who orient towards curiosity and openness to learn and grow. It is also important to us that you naturally orient towards simplicity and a small footprint. We value taking ownership of action and healthy sense of gratitude. Show us a strong helping ethic and integrity while also that you know how to live joyfully.Projets impliquant des enfants

We are seeking 1 or 2 helpers (couples welcome) to fill a few potential roles here on the land. We are mostly seeking helpers interested in some of these areas/options: gardening/landscaping, house tending, light construction/building.
Help us to implement systems and ideas that will produce food. Help care for Cypress, our little human. Help with building projects and forest care. Help us grow, establish and maintain a garden.
Our hope is to also call in someone who has a love and knack for connecting with kids. We want Cypress to have healthy adult role models. He is a special sweet little human who responds well to presence and play. He likes to feel included and ideally you are open to engaging and playing with him some while we work together.Langues parlées

We have a few potential housing options for helpers helpers. Options for tiny house and a bit more rugged/outdoor setups (covered tent platform). Each with its own privacy and sweetness.
Food: We expect you to provide most of your own meals. We have an outdoor kitchen. We love to share some meals and host potlucks.
The summer island vibe and shady cool forest by sea is magical to say the least.
If you desire to work more (make money) there is some landscaping and housekeeping work available on the island.Autres infos...
Explore the forests and mountain and beaches on the island. Bellingham is a lively city with a little bit of everything; a great farmers market, food co-op, bars/breweries, restaurants, public parks, lakes and access to scenic highways that lead to Mount Baker and the North Cascade mountain range.
One the land we have occasional gatherings that include Song Circle, Dance, Potlucks, etc, but also important to note there is a lot of down time and stillness here.Informations complémentaires

What a time it’s been with Paul, Matt, and Cypress! I’ve been here for a month and love it. I came during a transitionary time in my life when I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next or where I wanted to go. Arriving here on this land I felt myself return to myself, slowly and surely. Paul and Matt are some of the coolest, kindest souls… read more
