    Description

    Hello!
My name is Anne and I live with my husband, Ingolf, in a house in a three-sided courtyard in Dresden. We have two children, Franz and Martha, who have already grown up and moved out. We also have a cat named Shira.

My daughter Martha spent a year traveling with WWOOF and Workaway and had very good experiences. That is one of the reasons why I would now like to offer our home to travelers as well – so that others can also enjoy a new city in a welcoming place.

Another reason is that there is always a lot of work to do in the house and in the garden. I cannot manage everything on my own anymore and would really appreciate some help.

Martha would also be happy to show you around Dresden, if you like.
Now that the children have moved out, my husband and I live here on our own. Because my husband works in Berlin, the house is empty sometimes. Ingolf stays in Berlin for many days at a time, and I often visit him about three days a week. When I am in Dresden, I usually work until late in the evening.
So, if you decide to stay with us, please be aware that you will probably spend quite a bit of time alone.

That does not mean I am never at home – I do work in Dresden – but I want to be honest about this so it does not come as a surprise. But even so, I am sure we will still have time together, so you will not feel completely alone 😊

My husband sings in a choir called “RIAS-Kammerchor”, and I work as a music teacher (piano) and also in a church, where I plan the musical program. As you can see, music plays a big role in our lives. Sometimes I organize concerts or sing in my choir (Martha sings there too). If you are interested, I would be happy to invite you to one of them.

Apart from music, we enjoy hiking, going on bike tours or playing games. Obviously, we also always enjoy a good movie.

Because I am not at home very often anymore, there is quite a lot of work to do in the house and in the garden, and I would be grateful for some help. The tasks are simple and not difficult.
    In the house:
    – basic cleaning
    – possibly painting walls
    In the garden:
    – weeding
    – watering plants when needed
    – raking leaves and general garden maintenance
There may be other small tasks depending on the season, but we will always talk about everything together in advance, so you feel comfortable with what you are doing.
Nothing has to be perfect – we like things with a bit of an imperfect charm 😉
In exchange for food and accommodation, I would be happy if you could help for about 3–5 hours a day, 5 days a week. However, I am open to other arrangements and flexible.

Our house is located on the edge of the city of Dresden. This means it is quieter than the city center, although the airport is nearby.
The tram stop is about an 8-minute walk away, and from there you can reach “Dresden Neustadt” in about 15 minutes. This is the most popular area for younger people. From there, you can easily visit the old town, the river, or the forest.
We also have two bicycles that you can use. They are not perfect, but they work 😉

You will have your own cozy room under the roof with a double bed. In the house, there are two toilets but only one bathroom with a shower and bathtub, which we will share.
There is one kitchen that you are welcome to use.
I am not a very good cook and, to be honest, I do not really enjoy cooking 😄 Normally, my husband cooks for us and would be happy to prepare something for you when he is home, so you could try a traditional German dish if you like.

I will make sure that there is always something in the fridge for you to eat. There is also a supermarket nearby where you can easily buy anything special you might need. Of course you can also tell me what you like, and I can get it for you.
We have a garden where you can enjoy having breakfast outside when the weather is sunny.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me any time. If something is complicated, my daughter can help us with communication.
If you are comfortable spending some days on your own, enjoy helping with simple tasks, and would like to explore the beautiful city of Dresden, I am sure you would feel at home here. I look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming you as my guest.
    Have a wonderful trip!
    Anne, Ingolf, Franz, Martha
