Dear Sandy,
How lucky we were to have you with us for a month! We were truly spoiled by your spontaneity, intelligence, kindness, positivity, and helpfulness. From the very beginning, you felt like part of our home.
Even before you left, Daan, the girls, and I were already telling each other how much we were going to miss you. When I first told
… read more Daan that a new Workaway guest wanted to stay for a month, we were quite hesitant because our last experience wasn't great. So this time, as a lesson learned, we decided we would evaluate after a week to see if it was a good match. But after just one day with you, we already knew—you fit right in with our family.
You are always smiling, kind, and genuinely interested in the lives of those around you. You even taught me how to make Greek chicken BBQ and a delicious tzatziki—I'm excited to try making it on my own! :)
Sandy, you are incredibly smart. We could tell by the way you speak, share your ideas, and ask thoughtful questions. We have no doubt that one day, with your positivity and determination, you will move mountains. Keep believing in yourself, along with Costash (I’m sure I misspelled his name!).
We are so happy for you and the new journey you’re embarking on. The girls already miss you so much. Even Lola, who is often out with friends, told us, "I miss Sandy." Lois woke up sad the morning after you left, and Lara keeps asking, "Where is Sandy?"
Sandy, you are a wonderful person, and we will stay in touch. We look forward to seeing you again someday!
With love,
Daan, Demiah, Lola, Lois, & Lara

The family made this Workaway experience unforgettable for me! From the moment I arrived I fell at home. I stayed with them for one whole month, March 2025. The first week of my stay, was Carnival week, so schools were closed and Lois, the middle daughter, introduced me to the local festivities, helping me dress up as a fox! I got to see the

I was very motivated by the family's active daily life and their environmental awareness, being the founders of a zero waste initiative! The room I was staying in was Lois's, so we even shared it a few nights, I hope she didn't mind my snoring, haha. The work schedule was pretty flexible. I had received some guidelines when I arrived, but most of the time I was just doing what I saw that needed to be done during the day. The couple is very open for discussion and made sure I wasn't missing anything. The children are very well behaved and they get very well along with eachother. We even managed to overcome very well the language barrier with the youngest daughter, because I didn't speak Dutch, but thanks to Google translate and the two other siblings, we figured it out most of the time. I could go on for a lot longer about my great experience with them, so I will just say I definitely recommend them to any Workawayer who wants to live with a genuine and friendly family!

Demiah, Daan and their 3 lovely kids made my stay so much fun…♡
They have full of energy and every single member gave me lots of learning.
Demiah is passionate doing something nice for the world, very much cheerful and idea person. Asking some core question to her is definitely one of the highlight for me! I resonated many ideas that Demiah and

Daan always makes jokes and that’s so charming;-) if you visit their place you will get surprised how he take care of their kids. I would like to give him an award of best papa and husband!
And of course their kids. How amazing they take care of each other and they are so friendly. Lora speaks to me in Japanese, Lois made me many arts, Lara is an adrable little princess♡ I had a good relationship especially with Lois, sometime we slept in same room, played together, had cup of tea and so on. However whole family made me having a good memory, I appreciate them very much.
Can’t wait to see them again in Japan!Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Nana)
Hi Nana, we miss you when you leave, specially Loïs who was very sad. She cried and upset that you didn't bring the art that she made for you. 😊
Thank you so much for the help and your interest of what we do and as a family, like how we manage our daily life. You were such a great help specially during our sustainability festival. I hope you

Demiah is also so warm and we spend lots of time together, I loved talking with her and sharing our experiences, and Daan is so much fun, he always makes you laugh. I had the chance to experience first hand the Dutch lifestyle, joining the family in their everyday activities, helping out at home, picking the girls from school, joining girl's night, sitting by the fire at night, and I was even invited to their eldest daughter's birthday party, where I met Daan and Demiah's wonderful family. Demiah is a great cook and I tasted her wonderful Asian food, and I also showed her how to make some typical Spanish meals. During my stay, I also had the chance to visit many different places in the Netherlands, all of them green and beautiful. They also took me to see so many beautiful places near town, all of which I enjoyed so much (castles, lakes, forests, animals...). Boxtel is a small but very comfortable town, very well located and with so many things to do, surrounded by beautiful nature.
It has been such as wonderful experience to meet this amazing family, I miss them so much already. I couldn't be more thankful to Demiah and her family for everything and I hope I can visit them again soon!!Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Jasmine)
