It was lovely having Xuan stay at my house for a few weeks. He is respectful, friendly and works hard - clearing brambles and collecting firewood & fencing posts were his main tasks. He also helped me search for my dog who went missing one evening (and happily was found!). Indeed he loves animals and spent lots of time with my dogs, really caring
… read more about their needs and getting to know their personalities. We spoke mainly in Spanish which I enjoyed very much, although he did say at the end that he wished we could have spoken more English during his time here. If he had stayed longer I would have happily obliged! He would be great for a cultural exchange. Xuan is a very interesting person with a strong world view and an open mind, and we had long discussions about many interesting things. I feel like I have made a friend and that we will definitely meet again!

… read more y que recordaré como uno de los seres más simpáticos que haya conocido. También viven por allí tres gatos amistosos y gallinas que ponen huevos en abundancia.
El rincón está en una zona de montaña con vistas preciosas y detrás de la casa hay un bosque autóctono con toneladas de leña por recoger y que merece la pena explorar.
Estuve a gusto, Rebecca explica claramente las tareas a realizar y te deja organizarte.

We had a lovely time at Rebecca’s place, both in Galicia and Asturias. We were glad we could help her with the house move and it went fairly well, given that we had to travel with a lot of animals. The dogs and cats are lovely. Besides the work aspect we got along really well and we’re glad to have left with a new friend. She’s a lively person and
… read more up for anything; we played Dungeons and Dragons together, inspired each other when writing our novels and shared several coffees together. At the time, most of our work consisted of building a greenhouse, fencing, renovating the upper floor, gardening and, of course, helping with the move. All in all I can say that it was a lovely experience ♡
Lea & Brian are an absolutely lovely couple who were with me for a few months. They worked hard and both had a lovely attitude. They are creative, capable, motivated, and very good company. Amongst other things they built me a greenhouse and helped me to move house, which was a long, complicated and exhausting process, for which I was extremely
… read more grateful. Lea even made me a lovely crochet lampshade, and Brian is an excellent cook! They also know how to look after themselves in their free time, whether going off climbing, playing dungeons and dragons or writing a novel! I highly recommend these two, and they are always welcome to visit me in the future.

Karl came to spend a week with me on my Galician farm and the experience was absolutely lovely. He is simply a great guy - I have nothing bad to say about him! Hardworking, of good character, thoughtful, kind and easy going. The week was not easy because of the conditions - especially when the rain arrived - but Karl rose to the challenge and
… read more didn't complain. He did a lot of really helpful physical labour, as well as inspiring me through his own example to read and meditate more... plus we had super interesting discussions, as well as lots of fun playing board games! I would recommend him 100%.Feedback

Filippo came and stayed with me for just over a month, and immediately got busy with the jobs that needed doing. He is a hard worker with plenty of skills and motivation. … read more is self-contained and respectful, and he was very kind to me on my birthday, presenting me with a tray of thoughtful gifts! We had an unexpected arrival of a stray dog while Filippo was here, which I adopted, which understandably became a problem for his cat Bibin, so we parted ways with gratitude and respect. We remain friends and I am very happy to have met him and spent time getting to know him. His work was excellent, and he has left my home in a better state. Thanks Filippo! I wish him and Bibin all the very best.

Hi spent more than 1 months in Rebecca place me my cat frien bibin in my motorhome.Rebecca she have 2 Lovely dogs than they was gently with my cat , as travelling with à cat for me is important that the host dogs are manageble . … read more mainly i chose place where i can be really helpfull with my skill et have my relax time in the nature, Rebecca place is surronding by wonderfull préserved nature.the 1 point in commun between us x sure a deep
respect for animals, prove of this the neew friend arrival on Rebecca family à old abbandoned dog, now named Stanley, that she s adopted immediatly i helped her on this also for my cat was more complicated the next weeks. the main jobs that Rebecca need it was à large cickeen coop à external solar shower et others clearing around. i did my best for end this but both of us since the arrival of Stanley we was concentrated to built a large défense for him to give also the 2 Rebecca cats the possibilité to coop with the neew friend. so i spent good time there , mainly to tray to do it as my best was Rebecca need it, in peace et full nature immersion.i havecto say thanks to Rebecca also she was carefully to my cat since that stanly arrived, little bit noty xith cats et also thanks to let me Park my car for somme weeks after i move août from her place . i will see again Rebecca et i wish her à 100% succès of all the project she have for this land. Rebecca's place in Galicia is beautiful, rural and very green.
It is very peaceful I could hear cuckoos by day and nightingales and owls by night :D
The 2 dogs are adorable, Elon will keep you busy for hours throwing balls etc and Yasmin loves attention through stroking, she will happily show you her belly.

Rebecca is not demanding and easy to get along with, she has a youthful enthusiasm which is like a breath of fresh air.
Rebecca is happy for you to choose what you like to do best and is grateful for all help provided, she showed me around the local village and took me to a Roman fayre that was going on one weekend, which was very enjoyable. She also took me to walk around the Roman wall in the city of Lugo and bought me several coffees ;)
Hopefully I will return again in the future to help out some more. The project is at the very beginning....so there is a lot of scope for ideas and input which Rebecca is happy to discuss.
Maria (and her cute dog Amber) came and stayed with me for about a month in her motorhome. We got on like a house on fire and she did tons of great work for me - she is both practical and creative and cannot sit still! Even when it rained she was out clearing brambles and thinking up future ideas and projects for the land! She'll get stuck into
… read more anything and has a lot of knowledge and foresight, which comes from living on the road for many years. She was also really easy to host as she is fully self-sufficient and prefers to cook for herself - though she will also happily cook for others and I have to say she knows what she's doing in the kitchen!!! I really enjoyed having her stay and miss her now she's gone! I hope our paths will cross again someday. Heartily recommended for any future Workaway hosts :-)
Dan and Julie were a lovely couple who came in their own motorhome and stayed with me for 2 weeks. They were extremely gracious about the fact that it rained solidly for pretty much the whole time they were here, and despite the rain they contributed a great amount - they helped clear tons of brambles and nettles from the land and cleared away a
… read more lot of trash, they helped with a plumbing issue, ripped down some ceiling beams upstairs, and created a lovely 'chill-out zone' in my garage, and gave me plenty of advice for going forwards. They would have also built a bunk bed that had been dismantled as well, but the screws didn't arrive in time! Everything was left super tidy and they were great company. I felt very guilty that their experience wasn't what we'd all hoped for because of the rain, but I couldn't have asked for a lovelier couple and I appreciate every bit of work they did. We went out for dinner on the last evening and had a lovely time together! I was very happy to meet them and would recommend them whole-heartedly to any future Workaway hosts. Good honest, hard working people with kind hearts and decent skills!
