Description
Our New project is situated in a beautiful area, overseeing the bay of Valparaiso.
We are remodeling a very old home, we have started working on this year.
We prefer to have a couple with a minimum stay of approx. One week or more. However, we can also take single travelers.

You will get an exclusive look of all the varieties of the really colorful Valparaiso. Our project is located between the Cerro Alegre and Viña del Mar in a suburban area, which gives you an closer look on this multicultural site of Chile. Learn about remodiling :)

We expect you to help 3-4 hours a day in exchange for your room. You will have a private room, access to bathroom and kitchen. We need help with construction, building, plastering walls, sanding, painting, organizing , cleaning, garden, etc.

Nicknamed "The Jewel of the Pacific", Valparaíso was declared a world heritage site based upon its improvised urban design and unique architecture. In 1996, the World Monuments Fund declared Valparaíso's unusual system of funicular lifts (steeply inclined carriages) one of the world's 100 most endangered historical treasures. In 1998, grassroots activists convinced the Chilean government and local authorities to apply for UNESCO world heritage status for Valparaíso. Valparaíso was declared a World Heritage Site in 2003. Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Valparaíso boasts a labyrinth of streets and cobblestone alleyways, embodying a rich architectural and cultural legacy. Valparaíso is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Easily one of the best Workaway hosts you'll find in Valparaiso. Kent is such an awesome guy and incredibly easy to work for. I learned a lot while doing some renovation work with him. I'll definitely be back if I end up in the area again. Thanks again Kent!!

I couldn't hope for any better experience for my first workaway. Just arriving in Chile i was intending to stay about two weeks and ended up staying for 6 month ! It was hard to leave this place as the life in Valpo is charming.

Great team. I just put Enrique and Kline Frau in charge and went fishing. When I came back, everything was perfect.

I stayed at Kent's yellow volunteers' house, opposite the hostel, for just a week in November but it was a really enjoyable experience. Beautiful views to be had straight from the windows or surrounding streets, decent facilities allowing volunteers to cook and eat together, and the occasional home-brewed beer provided by Kent :)

We ended up helping Kent renovating an apartment in Valparaiso, after a bad workaway experience and it was a blast. In the week we spent with Kent we learnt how to make concrete and build a wall, besides a lot of wise suggestions and stories we could never forget.

Para mi, el sitio ideal para disfrutar de Valparaíso, he aprendido mucho sobre construcción, he convivido con gente estupenda y he podido disfrutar de la ciudad pues se trabaja siempre por la mañana, dejándote el resto del día para disfrutar. Kent es estupendo y un buen maestro, además los voluntarios vivimos aparte en otra casa. Muy recomendable!

We stayed at the hostel for about 3 weeks and had a great time. The hostel was full of international students and looking after the place was a fun and interesting gig. Kent has unbendable but reasonable rules to follow to ensure safety and success when doing the job. We cleaned the common areas (and sometimes their bathrooms) and made sure the… read more

We had planned to work in Kent's hostel for a month but ended up staying longer as we really loved it here. Kent is a real character with lots of entertaining stories to tell and his partner Carolina is an absolute delight.

We stayed at Kent's hostel for 2 weeks during the quiet period of July. There was a change of students, a lot of them leaving for home and new students moving in.
