    My name is Zack, and the two things I love most are food and people. I studied sociology in college, but along the way I found myself working in our student-run late night restaurant, and was the head director for my junior and senior year. I fell in love with it and have now worked at 2 restaurants, and one day I hope to own a restaurant of my own. From October 2024 to December 2025 I'm going to be traveling through Asia, Africa, and Latin America to learn about the cuisines of each country. I believe that food is one of the most powerful catalysts to of human connection, and I hope that as I spend time at workaways, laboring and learning how to cook local dishes, I develop relationships with my hosts that will last a lifetime. I am very active and spend a lot of time in the gym, so I'm well-equipped for manual labor. I also have a lot of tutoring experience from back when I wanted to be a teacher so I'd be happy to help teach you English if you're interested in that, as well as learn your language! My Spanish is pretty good but other than that I don't know any other languages, so I'm excited to hopefully pick some up on my travels. For the first few months I'll be solo traveling, but Gabby will join me in May!

    My name is Gabrielle, and I am endlessly enamored with meeting new people in new places. I studied Sociology in college so I could continue to explore my interests in how people are shaped by their environments. Since college, I have been working a corporate job in Philadelphia with plans to go back to graduate school and pursue a PhD in cultural/ethnic studies. I am a long distance runner (2x marathoner), and I love the outdoors, so I am very well-suited for manual labor. My other interests include reading, writing, and cooking. I am more than happy to cook meals and tutor English. I have an intermediate level of French, but am hoping to pick up other languages on my travels!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

    I have a lot of cooking experience and would love to cook meals for the group, as long as I can learn about the traditional food of each country:) I have more limited experience with farming/gardening but I am very strong and active and would be good at doing manual labor outdoors. I am also generally good at working with people because I am very sociable.

    I make short-form food video content (TikTok, instagram reels, etc.) where I cook and talk about my life, and I plan to continue doing that while I'm traveling so that I can share local dishes with the world! Additionally, I am going to write down all of the recipes that I learn so I can eventually write a cookbook about my travels. Because of that, having a host that appreciates food and knows how to cook is very important to me so I can learn about the local cuisine:)

      Normally in the U.S. I am vegan, but I do not plan to be vegan while I'm traveling. I would like to eat as much plant-based food as possible but I also just want to try whatever you regularly eat!
