Currently looking for community, whether it's a one-off thing or a potentially longer-term adventure in a place where things are being done together - both work and fun - and of deep human connection.

I'm pretty chill and very easy to live with, they say, and I'm just looking to create things together, whether it's food, a building, an event, a piece of music or knowledge... and sharing bonfires, movie nights, music discoveries and the like. I will probably want to keep some of my free time for practicing my guitar and coding skills, but my overall priority is the community.

I may (or may not) take a while socializing cause I get to know people by observing and listening rather than asking questions. Also I've gone through an extensive plant medicine retreat a few months ago, very beneficial but it shook up a lot of stuff, and the process can still be quite painful and uncomfortable at times. On those days I may suddenly appear quiet or confused or vulnerable for a while. I won't be less kind or helpful to others, maybe just more reserved until things pass.

And if you're going through shit too, I might be able to help you navigate that. I'm getting pretty good at it haha.

I definitely lean towards the left politically but I do not agree with every idea or practice it comes up with, and I'm absolutely willing to learn on any topic but I move slowly and remain critical and careful every step of the way.

I have extensive experience in both hostel/BnB work, with high quality standards and awesome customer feedback, and farm work (building, gardening, animal care, etc.).
I can also take care of a house, keep it clean and tidy, shop, cook, look after the pets...

As the profile mentions, this is not your usual volunteering arrangement. There's no 25-hour-work-for-food-and-accomodation exchange. This is more like a shared house: you put in some money and get to stay there, living with and like a local, free to explore the surrounding landscapes and culture as much as and any way you feel like.

However the … read more profile is unclear or misleading in a few ways, the most important of which, as far as I was concerned, were:
- the fact that food is NOT included in the daily 10.000, which are for accomodation only. I had money issues at the time and this was a problem, which is why I left after only five days.
- the fact that accomodation was NOT at the farm, but in the townhouse.
- the fact that the house is also home to three dogs, including two loud puppies.

Despite this, I really enjoyed my stay in Filadelfia, which, although quite short, turned out to be the most authentic and interesting experience I've had of Colombia.

Living in the townhouse with Leny (an energetic, sensitive, unpredictable, almost Italian girl with a big heart) was in itself a dive into the local life and land. The amenities are very basic and there's no hot water (but you can always mix boiling and cold water in a bucket if you need a warm shower), sometimes friends pop by - maybe with kids and/or a few more dogs - to share a few beers and sing along to latin pop songs together, and 3mn from the house there is an absolutely fabulous lookout to the moutains all around.

Outside of the house, the possibilities are endless. Leny took us to one of her friend's (typically Colombian) birthday on the first night, and the next two days, we went to cook for the children of a one-room school nearby, which was quite a cultural experience and probably the most significant in my whole trip. One afternoon I walked down to the stadium and played football and basketball for hours with the town kids. We also went for walks around Fili, shopped at the local butcher's or greengrocer's, visited Andrea at the farmhouse (a calm, really interesting guy), as well as Leny's dad's coffee farm, and in the evenings we would go out for drinks and to play pool and dance salsa. We also planned a whole day hike to La Merced we never got to do because I left too soon.

And as I climbed into the bus that day, I was already thinking about next time.

PS: in case that wasn't clear enough from the profile or previous reviews, the town has zero tourist, and Leny doesn't speak English. So if your goal is to learn Spanish, well, you couldn't be in a better place.

Nour is the ideal Workawayer. He helped us enormously in the garden, with the tourists, etc.
More important was the fact that he was completely independent and he saw immediately what needs to be done.
