Greetings! I'm Valerie!

I am a widow and mom of 3 adult sons. Now that my career in fashion has come to an end, and my nest is empty, my love of travel, culture, and connection with interesting diverse people around the world has been reignited! I studied art and fashion design in NY before embarking on a 30 year career in the apparel and textile industry which took me to mills and factories throughout Europe and Asia where my love of travel and adventure began.

Most recently I have been nannying children, newborn to age 5 and I also have elementary school experience as an art teacher. I get pleasure from sharing my gifts and talents with others, especially children. I have a curious, friendly, patient and compassionate nature. I also like to use my creativity and resourcefulness when working through problems. I am tidy, discreet and a non-smoker. I enjoy being active, cooking, reading, music, the arts, and being in nature. I am always happiest when I am near water.

I live in the Capitol of the USA, Washington DC. I was born and raised in a NJ suburb of NYC. I spend my free time volunteering with multiple public and private organizations such as Smithsonian, YMCA, Indego Africa, The Point Foundation, SOME, and many other Church and School causes. I am a 2013 KIVA grant recipient for my work with sustainable textiles.

Although I am older in age, I am young in spirit and strong in body! I look forward to hearing from you!!

I've raised 3 sons who are college educated and successful in their careers. I think I can confidently boast many attributes - childcare provider, teacher, nurturer, cook, housekeeper, hostess, motivator, effective communicator, negotiator, ability to show compassion and an abundance of patience
I've also enjoyed a successful 30 year career of my own. My career required I have expertise in:
critical thinking, teamwork, self motivation, listening, organization, relationship building, self confidence, resilience, conflict resolution, inspiring others, time management,
I have technical expertise, interior design, sewing and patternmaking, marketing and promoting, customer service, networking, computer skills and anything requiring Attention to Detail
