Have just arrived in Sri Lanka and am looking for volunteering projects that can help me learn more about the culture and what life is like through the eyes of a local :)

Description

I have a real thirst for exploration and living through different cultures, meeting other people and trying to see why they live their lives the way they do.

I solo-travelled to Sevilla during 2021 and saw what the solo travel life is all about and haven't stopped thinking about that way of life since and had to return in the winter 😄

In 2022 I went solo-travelling again and went on multiple workaways in Spain and Switzerland and then flew to central america to continue volunteering for 6 months at the end of 2023.

I get along with all types and ages of people, and like to draw upon the experience and lessons that people older than me have. I love to be around people who are passionate about what they do and often find that passion contagious.

I've always loved workaway and the idea of actually immersing myself in a culture, and cannot imagine travelling without it. I feel really fortunate for the experiences and people I've met over the years with workaways and couldn't imagine my life now without them. Having done quite a few projects now, I have become quite familiar with what is to be expected of me and the importance of communication. I have worked as a speciality barista for over 6 years.

I see myself as passive and pretty relaxed, but am very adaptable and can focus when there are things to be done. I love having talks about society and the bigger picture in life, thinking critically and holding an appreciation for what life has to offer.
I also love taking pictures of my travels and like to think I have started to get better the more I travel, but would love any advice you can give.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I was in the scouts for nearly a decade so am fairly familiar with outdoor work and learnt a few skills which might help me along the way. I have studied a lot of the English Language in my time at school and would be happy to help with speaking/writing practices. I also can speak Spanish to a decent, conversational standard, however am looking to better this during my time in Costa Rica.

I have experience working in restaurant, preparing food and I have also worked as a specialty barista for nearly two years (would love to talk coffee with you).


I am more than happy to just be a pair of helping hands as well if you need help in more physical tasks (I have some experience with renovation work from previous workaways).
