Hi there! My name is Tom, and I am new to Workaway. I recently graduated from my Master in Industrial Ecology in the Netherlands. I will be travelling South America, starting in Brazil from October onwards, for no predefined time. I have been to South America before, but this time I would like to take it slow. Spend more time in the same place.

My main goal is to expand my basic knowledge in Spanish (naturally this means - after I leave Brazil) and become fluent, by emerging myself in different work environments. This could be anything: farms, schools, hostels, you name it. I have always been very interested in meeting people from all over the world. Sharing cultures in the form of food, stories and music is what really excites me about travelling. Besides that, I love to read, (song)write, go to the film/museums and play sports (preferably those that include racket: tennis/padel/pingpong etc.). I am a sore loser.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience in different fields of work. I have worked in many restaurants, bars, cafés, etc. I have also built up and deconstructed surf camps for six summers in a row, where I have become quite handy. I wouldn’t say I can build houses, but I know my way around a drill, a sander, a paintbrush, etc. I have done social media marketing and door-to-door sales, and enjoy creative writing. Lastly, I have experience in teaching (mostly maths, but also English). Overall, I would say I am active and pick things up rather quickly.

I love playing games. My covid hobby (obsession) was improving my chess skills. Also any available instrument would be a huge +. I am hardly David Bowie, but I love to play. Same for pets/animals btw! The more the marrier.
