Hi

I’m Tamera, twenty-five years old. I’ve been living in New Orleans for about three years. Known for its jazz scene, countless festivals, colonial architecture and rich history; I am fortunate for the deep connections and experiences this city has granted me. I currently work for Tulane University through an AmeriCorps Program as a mentor and program coordinator for volunteers working with nonprofits that support the unhoused population in the community. This work has made me value the importance of fostering meaningful relationships with people and, the astounding ways in which healing can happen.

I will be returning back to New York City for a month, after completing my contract with the University; to spend some time teaching youth groups about: composting, hydroponic system and harvesting goods, on small urban farms in Harlem. I enjoy the work that I do/ have done but I also like to finding fulfillment in the areas of my life unrelated to work. I love art - literature and visual. I fancy thoughtful conversations, an array of music genres, random walks and eating good food.

I’m taking a few months to travel meet new people and learn something; whether it be a skill or something about myself.
