Hi there! My name is Steven and I'm a 22 year-old Indonesian studying in Freiburg, Germany.

I am a hobbyist photographer with a focus in event photography. Why? Because I love it when I see people enjoy life to the fullest. It feels and tastes like good ol' vicarious happiness. I have experience in editing photos and videos, though, admittedly not so much on social media management. Trying to work on it!

It's also an half-open secret at this point that I'm a closeted anime and manga otaku. I've been watching anime and reading mangas since middle school and, along with it, fell in love with Japanese language and culture. I especially love media that serve as a commentary or critique of its origin society, so do ask me about my favourites (including J-Pop)! It's been 5 years since I last learned Japanese and I have to say, that I have absolutely zero regrets having done so. Though I have to say that I haven't really tested my speaking skills as much as I have read, so this trip is a chance to change that.

I have done a few Workaways here in Europe, mostly involving animals and outdoor work, and I have done a number of Couchsurfs, so I am no stranger to coming in and getting to know new people in new places and helping with different kinds of work. If there's anything I would like to try this Workaway, that would actually be teaching English. I might not be a native speaker with a native accent, but I'm an accomplished ESL (English as Second Language) speaker, having lived in Singapore for 4 years and currently studying in English. Though I have no teaching experience other than to my own parents, I think I can teach English better to other ESL learners than most native speakers because I'm an ESL speaker myself.

Generally, I love people even though I'm admittedly an introvert. As someone who takes pictures of people, I think people are beautiful on the outside, but they're even more so wonderful in the inside. That is why, I want to try to get to know you, the person inside the person.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I don't know exactly my Japanese speaking level, having mostly read and listened at an intermediate level. Though I think I should be able to adapt it fairly quickly!

I am a fluent English speaker at a native level. I studied in Singapore for 4 years and am currently studying in an English-taught program. As an non-native speaker myself, I am able to teach English to other non-native speakers.

Besides language skills, I have skills in photography, as well as photo and video editing. I helped with photography in one of the host's events in a past Workaway. I carry around a smaller camera than usual when I'm travelling, though if you have a better camera, I will be able to use that for better results.

Some general experience from past Workaways include helping with feeding and caring for animals, manual work, cleaning in- and outside the house, and cooking. I'm not the most frequent cook, but I do get pretty ambitious when it comes to trying out new recipes!
