Hi there, I'm Sophie and I can't wait to start my workaway adventures! I'm from the US originally and live in London. For the first time in my life, I will be taking some time off work to travel the world and get inspired for my next chapter.

I've had a successful career working in finance and technology for some of the world's largest companies. While I've enjoyed my work, the older I've gotten, the stronger my gut sense is that there is more in life I want to explore.

What draws me to workaway is the opportunity to travel with a purpose - helping local communities, spending time in nature, learning new skills and making friends along the way.

I am particularly interested in opportunities working on a farm. I've always hoped to live somewhere in harmony with nature where I could live sustainably - growing my own food, tending to animals and living a balanced and connected life. Workaway feels like the perfect opportunity to affirm that I would enjoy living on a farm as much as I think I would.

Finally, I'm also very interested in using this experience to immerse myself in local culture. My partner is from Latin America and there is a possibility that we relocate to this part of the world in the future.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a curious person who is genuinely interested in learning new skills and tends to pick up new concepts quickly.

Skills I already possess that align with my interests:
- Gardening: I grew up helping my dad garden and grow a number of vegetables, fruits and herbs in my garden at hope
- Animals: I grew up with dogs and have adopted a cat in London
- Cooking: I cook every day for myself, my partner and my friends; I enjoy preparing food for people and learning about different kinds of cuisine around the world
- Photography: I took photography classes in high school and have continued to enjoy it as a hobby since then
- Technology: my professional background is in technology and I'm generally handy at device / application set up
- Teaching: I spent summers in high school teaching languages - both English and Spanish - this was a long time ago, but happy to incorporate this into my workaway experience

From a formal skills perspective, my professional background is in finance and technology, with qualifications in product and project management. My bachelors degree is in politics and economics.

Whilst I haven't done any jobs focused on manual labour, I am in good physical shape - love playing sports, doing exercise classes, and hiking - and am very open to taking on physical tasks with appropriate guidance.
