  • Description

Hi there! I'm Angel. I approach life with a big smile, a strong work ethic, and a lot of positive initiative.

A couple of years ago, I chose to step away from a successful corporate career leading global customer service operations. Honestly, I had just reached a point where I was completely over the industry. I grew tired of the corporate grind and frustrated by a system that constantly pushes people to buy things they don't really need. On top of that, the frantic pace of Toronto city life was becoming too much. I had already been working remotely and traveling for a while, but I realized I needed to completely break away and shift my focus toward things that actually matter.

For me, Workaway is all about connecting with people at a truer, more human level and meeting like-minded souls. I am highly social, genuinely extroverted, and I don't want to just keep to myself. When I join a host, I want to truly be a part of the family, the team, or the project. Meeting individuals from all walks of life, listening to their real life stories, and making genuine friends is the most magical feeling. I am a storyteller, a reader, and a constant learner, and I love bringing a contagious, happy energy to the communities I join.

My main focus over the next year is personal growth, pulling my weight in great communities, and finishing my first science fiction novel. My immediate plan is to spend August and September experiencing the rugged beauty of the North. It is a massive dream of mine to finally see the northern lights and finish my book under them. I have actually tried chasing the auroras before on an expedition to Churchill, Manitoba, where I got to see plenty of polar bears. I even went to Reykjavik twice, but I had absolutely zero luck catching the lights on any of those trips! I am crossing my fingers that the Yukon or the Canadian North is where my luck finally changes.

You definitely do not have to worry about me adapting to remote locations or cold weather, either. Along with my Churchill trip, I used to spend months at a time in Winnipeg during January and February setting up contact centers in -45 weather, so I genuinely love the winter and the crisp northern air. After my time up north, I will be catching a flight to Ireland late in the fall on a Working Holiday Visa, where I hope to settle in on the Aran Islands or the west coast to live like a local and maybe even pour pints of Guinness at a local pub.

When I am staying with hosts, I am highly independent, low-maintenance, and a non-smoker. I deeply value a clean, organized space, a quiet environment for my writing when I am off the clock, and a respectful community. I love to work hard, take initiative on projects, and share a good laugh at the end of the day. Lately, I've also been picking up a new hobby and learning to play the guitar. I’m a total beginner right now, but hopefully not for long, and I'd love to practice a few chords by the fire!

I can speak fluent English and Spanish that I am more than happy to teach. I am also always looking to improve the other few languages that I've been trying to learn over the years, French, Portuguese and Italian, so I'd be more than happy to learn as well if anyone speaks those.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

have a very diverse set of skills and a lot of personal initiative. I'm happy to bring both my brains and a hard-working set of hands to support your project.

Operations & Digital Tech: My professional background is in leading global Customer Service and Operations. This means I thrive on solving problems, organizing chaos, and making things work efficiently. I run my own digital operations studio, so if your project needs help with online listings, data organization, capturing photos/videos, updating websites, or building out smooth social media workflows, I can easily manage your tech and tech systems.

Hospitality, Coffee & Mixology: I love front-facing roles and connecting with the public. More recently, I ran guest relations at a boutique guest house, where I was frequently mentioned by name in five-star reviews for my warmth. Years ago, I was also a supervisor at the busiest Starbucks in Toronto, where I earned my Coffee Master certification, so I can easily handle an intense morning espresso rush. I'm also a huge mixology enthusiast and love following complex drink recipes to craft epic cocktails.

Kitchen & Cooking: Cooking from scratch is one of my absolute biggest passions in life. My background is Mexican, and I love exploring regional flavors, baking, and cooking big, family-style meals. I am very fast, tidy, and completely in my element running a station or prepping in a kitchen.

Gardening & Hands-on Help: I'm very practical and love getting my hands dirty. I've acquired a lot of solid gardening skills recently, planting everything from vegetables and herbs to a wide variety of flowers. I also have light construction, timber work, and general maintenance experience from helping out with my uncle's business, so I am always happy to roll up my sleeves for heavy housekeeping, trail clearing, or renovation projects.

I am a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English, and speak conversational French and Portuguese. I am always open to learning!

  • Autres infos...

I love unwinding with social activities and bringing people together! I’m a huge fan of board games like Cranium, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Chess, and Checkers, and I’m always keen to learn a new one. I love hosting game nights paired with a great homemade cocktail, as I'm a big mixology enthusiast who loves following complex drink recipes. I also enjoy karaoke, singing, and appreciate a fun night out with good people. Lately, I've been picking up a new hobby and learning to play the guitar. I’m a total beginner right now, but I'm practicing hard and would love to strum a few chords and share some songs around a campfire or a cozy living room.

I have a real passion for swimming; I used to be captain of my high school swim team and have lifeguard training, so I'm very comfortable around the water.

My travel style is all about immersive experience: I love planning spontaneous trips, joining free walking tours to learn local history, visiting historical sites, and seeking out the best local food tastings. Above all, I value taking it one day at a time, sharing stories, making lifelong friendships, and simply appreciating life’s adventures.
