Description
Hello! My name is Sam and I have just wrapped up my undergraduate degree in Victoria, Canada, and am so excited to get the chance to travel, meet people from around the world, and make lasting connections along the way.
I was bit by the travel bug pretty young; I moved across Canada when I was 18 for school, and spent the third year of my degree on an international exchange, studying in Utrecht, the Netherlands. What started out as a bit of a leap of faith ended up being the most fulfilling and meaningful experiences of my life. I'm so excited to join Workaway and be part of a community where travel is "slower" and rooted in authentic cultural exchange.
I'm adaptable, a quick learner, and always put my best foot forward to help out! I've worked and volunteered in roles including cleaning/housekeeping, food service, teaching, childcare, tutoring, and mentorship. I am most passionate about people-focused work, and have enjoyed teaching/tutoring and have volunteered for serveral years as mentoring and teaching english to international students at my university. I also have plenty of experience working with kids (as a ski instructor, camp counsellor, and babysitter) and would love any job where I can be "part of the family" helping out with childcare. I am also a big animal lover (spent many years volunteering on a farm, and have a lovely dog back home with my parents who I miss dearly!), so any pets/animal care would be a big bonus!
A bit about me: I am an adventurer at heart, and am definitely the "I'll try anything once" type! I love being outdoors, and especially enjoy hiking, paddling, and skiing. More than anything, I love being by the water, whether that was swimming, catching a sunset at the lake, or a brave Pacific polar dip :) I also love listening to live music, movie nights, and trying different cuisines.
I’m tidy, easygoing, respectful of shared spaces, and always aim to contribute positively to the environment I’m in. I'm looking forward to joining hosts, families, and communities where I can learn, contribute, and share this chapter of my life with others.
Looking forward to connecting :) -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Many of my jobs have involved working with children, including as a summer camp counsellor, babysitter, ski instructor, and tutor. I would be very keen on finding a host family/position where I could be a warm presence, extra set of hands, and role model for children. I would also love to help out with teaching or practicing English! I have plenty of experience (and so much love) for animals. I have volunteered at a veterinary clinic and worked as a dog daycare attendant, and have been a pet owner for many years. I would be happy to help out with dog walks, feeding, and any general pet/animal care. I have worked in housekeeping, restaurants, and customers service, and am a quick-learner, happy to pitch in on cooking, cleaning, gardening, and helping out with daily tasks/routines. More than anything, I'm a quick-learner, highly adaptable, and strive to always put my best foot forward in all that I do.
