Description
We’re an active, outdoorsy, married couple originally from the UK. We’ve been living in Vancouver, Canada, for the last eight years and love camping, hiking, kayaking, skiing, and generally being outside in nature.

We're taking a year off from work to travel the world, connect with new people, and explore different cultures.

We spent time volunteering in a school in Kenya 10 years ago and it's one of the most incredible experiences we have ever had, so we'd love to volunteer during our travels to give back and make new connections.

We're both very active, outdoorsy people who aren't afraid of getting our hands dirty and would love to help out with house maintenance/gardening projects and animal care. We both enjoy working with people and jumping in wherever support is needed.

Professionally, Ryan's experience is in finance managing budgets, streamlining operations, and supporting organizations with strategic planning and financial insight.

Emily is a marketing professional, specializing in copywriting. Her experience covers digital marketing, social media, and content strategy so she can help with writing, online promotion, general marketing needs etc.

We're high school sweethearts with a love for travel and new experiences! We're both from the midlands in the UK but moved to Vancouver, Canada for an adventure when we were 24 and somehow we've lived here for 8 years. We've left our jobs for our "year of dreams" and were drawn to South America for the incredible nature opportunities.

We love exploring new places and connecting with people from all walks of life. We like to spend as much time as possible outdoors camping, hiking, horse riding, and paddleboarding in the summer, and skiing in the winter. We're always up for an adventure, learning new skills, playing a board game, and contributing wherever we can.

My husband Ryan and I volunteered for three weeks in December 2025 and absolutely loved it! The whole family was so welcoming and the farm is beautiful.

We chose to work the 7am-12pm shift and have the afternoons off when it was super hot. The work primarily involved tending to the young walnut trees and helping fix irrigation, but some days we… read more also picked cherries or raspberries, made cherry juice, cleaned the pool, mowed the lawns, and trained the horses. None of the farm workers know english, so we definitely wished we had made more effort to learn more spanish before going as it would have been such a good learning opportunity if we had a better grasp of the basics. They were also so friendly and we still all got a long and had a laugh together which we really enjoyed. We'd encourage you to work hard for these guys as they give a lot back. To get the most out of the working experience you need to be willing to be a self-starter and not be handheld all of the time.

After work, we could hang out at the pool or enjoy riding the horses which was an absolute dream come true for me. The only challenge was catching them in the first place! But once we had, we were free to ride whenever we wanted all over the beautiful farm. There's also a little lake a couple of kms away with kayaks that we would ride to with a picnic for sunset. There were two other volunteers with us which we were glad of and had hoped there would have been a few more people as there's a lot of downtime in the afternoons/evenings, so it's nice to have the company.

Raimundo was really generous with food and every Monday we would be driven to the local supermarkets and able to buy groceries for the week. We were also really lucky that during our time there Raimundo hosted a camping/rave weekend at a nearby river. Loads of his friends/family turned up and took DJ decks to the river and partied for the night! It was such an incredible experience we were so glad we got to be a part of! We also got to go to the river on a couple more occasions to hang out in the evenings which was really nice.

The volunteer house is basic and we were also living with the Bolivian couple (like the previous review mentioned) which made the mealtimes a bit of a juggle with the stove but it's what you would expect for a free stay and it didn't really bother us.

Overall we had an amazing time on the farm and we're so grateful to Raimundo and Isi for having us. It's one of our highlights from our 8 months in South America. <3
