Hi, I’m Sophie!
I’m a curious bird in search of adventures. Having just finished high school, I’m taking a gap year to explore new cultures, meet inspiring people and grow through new experiences.
I grew up in a small town in the Swiss countryside, where I’ve always been close to my people and traditions. At the same time, I’ve always been fascinated by other ways of living and I truly believe that the diversity of worldwide cultures is one of our greatest treasures.
Three years ago, I had the chance to do an exchange year in Uruguay. Of course there were ups and downs, but what remains in my heart is the warmness of its people, the love I feel for my host family (who I now consider my own family) and a bit of Spanish! That experience gave me an unconditional love for Latin America and the desire to discover every corner of it.
Apart from travelling, I’m a very creative (and crafty) girl. I love challenging myself by recreating ideas I’ve seen on Pinterest or in real life – whether it’s crocheting, making jewellery or clothes, renovating old furniture, or organizing themed parties. I’m always open to trying new things, especially when they’re out of the ordinary. If you want to go skydiving, trek in the Amazon, learn to cook with locals, or do anything that gets us out of our comfort zone, tell me and I’ll be excited to try it with you! :))

Living in a multilingual country, I had no choice but to learn languages – luckily, it also turned out to be one of my biggest interests. At the moment, I'm in the absolute need to improve my german, since I will next year start university in that language! In the meantime, I would be very happy to share my knowledge of languages, especially French, which is my mother tongue.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’ve worked as a waitress in restaurants, cafés and bars, which made me reliable, efficient and people-oriented. I’m creative and love DIY projects, crafts and event organization. I also gave tutoring lessons thanks to my ease at school, and was part of a student committee where we organized activities for the whole school. Adaptable and motivated, I’m happy to help in many different ways.
