Description
Hey, I'm Jan Niklas, 20 years old and I’ve just finished school and now I would like to get to know new places on earth and meet new people. I think it will be a special and exciting experience to spend a year abroad and help out on one or more farms or ecological/social projects, but I'm also open for any other job or adventure.
I live in a small town in northern Germany and in my free time I like to meet up with friends, do something outside or look after my dog.

My first stop was Toronto.
After that I went to Ottawa staying at a Workawayhost and helping in the garden and some renovation projects. I also helped building a deck.
Then I went to Rhode Island to a small farm. I helped at some farmwork, housekeeping and other renovation projects and also got the opportunity to help volunteering on Rose Island.
From Rhode Island I went to Maine where I helped with dogsitting, housekeeping and at some renovationprojects aswell before I went to DC and Victoria (bc) where I did similar tasks.

Currently I’m in Québec City until April 18, when I'm stopping in Trois Rivieres
before I go to Montrél.
I'm going to be in Montréal until april 30. Then I’ll be in Ottawa in the beginning of may before I’ll stop in Toronto for a few days as the last stop on this journey in Canada.
In mid may I'll fly to Iceland, which is going to be my last stop on this journey.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have some basic knowledge of gardening and crafts and a few years ago I was volunteering at the local church, where I looked after groups of children.
I'm also familiar with cats and dogs, so I can also take care of them.
In Ottawa I helped a Workawayhost with building a deck and at some gardenwork.

I've spent a very nice week here and immediately felt welcome. Everybody was very kind, polite and relaxed and although I've only stayed for a week, I felt like being home. The work and the food were also very good and it is also possible that you are dropped of in Reykjavik for a day.

Its been very nice two weeks in Montréal and I've definitely learned a lot. The food was very nice and Kat and Partrick are very nice and welcoming. Yan is a very nice young man. He is hard working and helpful. His English is impeccable and he loves to share his German culture. He absolutely loved the dogs and they loved him. I took him to a volunteer weekend at a local lighthouse and he worked very hard! He does very well working together on projects.

Jan is a lovely person! He was happy to tell me about life in Germany, which was very interesting. He was very easy to live with, and is clean, polite, and a great conversationalist. If you are not allergic to cats, try to stay there!
It was my first workaway experience and it was really nice. It felt like I was home almost immediately and by staying there I was able to live at a nice place and experience Ottawa. Marieke is a very nice, open minded and helpful person.
