Description
Hi, I'm Ray, originally from Cape Town, South Africa and dual Swiss nationality. I speak English and have a basic level of Spanish and German.My interests and hobbies include traveling, music, hiking, animals, food and cultures and permaculture. I just finished travelling around Asia and now I would like to learn more about off-grid living and organic farming.
I think this is a great platform to meet new people, learn and discover new things. I have been a volunteer on and off since 2013 and have done a wide variety of jobs including gardening, painting, maintenance tasks, caring for animals and various others. I am independent and responsible, open-minded, fast learner and can work well alone and with others. I enjoy the outdoors and countryside and easy going when it comes to food, I basically eat everything!

I had a pleasant stay with Chengmun, her mom and all the dogs! The house is situated in a nice suburban part of KL, near to shops, parks and food stalls. Ray stayed at our doggyhousefor 2 weeks. . He is a great working around things. Lots of initiatives and great at getting things done if there are complications. He work around my garden and fixed mt backyard. Pleasant & respectful.

Ray is such a pleasure to have at the campsite. Very calming aura / energy and skilled at DIY stuff & landscaping. Ray single handedly & meticulously cleared the beachfront plots.
He also strung up a swing, artwork, lights & helped with cleaning out a beach front wooden house.

I stayed a week at Wan Wans bakery in Sianter. Here you can learn all about Roti and how it's made. You will have the opportunity to meet so many local people and discover Batak culture. I had a pleasant stay with Lourdes, her family, pets and two other volunteers. Very welcoming and friendly, great cook, we ate some nice meals typical to the region. Nice beach and mountains nearby. Very pleased to have the experience!

It was a pleasure to share with Ray for a few weeks at home! Quiet, independent, fully owner of his project that was a beautiful house for the chickens, which he built with all the recycled materials that we found in the garden. Ray arrived just in time. There was an amount of tree trunks to split and stack what he and Siebert did with endless patience during some hot days. I spent 6 weeks here and really enjoyed it. It's a really big farm with lots of olive trees and horse stables and small bnb. Joanna the owner always made sure I was well fed and comfortable with the work and everything.. probably the best food I've had, prepared by the cook Maria. Big thanks to Brigitte and Philippe for hosting me and welcoming me to their home. The area is fantastic with lots of beautiful places to see.
The work was easy and varied from washing dishes to driving to the bakery! The food was great, 3 lovely meals a day and the caravan was comfy. A good experience :)
