Description
Hi, I'm Ray, originally from Cape Town, South Africa and dual Swiss nationality. I speak English and have a basic level of Spanish and German.My interests and hobbies include traveling, music, hiking, animals, food and cultures and permaculture. I just finished travelling around Asia and now I would like to learn more about off-grid living and organic farming.
I think this is a great platform to meet new people, learn and discover new things. I have been a volunteer on and off since 2013 and have done a wide variety of jobs including gardening, painting, maintenance tasks, caring for animals and various others. I am independent and responsible, open-minded, fast learner and can work well alone and with others. I enjoy the outdoors and countryside and easy going when it comes to food, I basically eat everything!

Ray cat sat for me. My elderly cat Harry needs a lot of attention and he absolutely loved Ray. Ray also installed a cat flap for me (not as easy as it sounds) and landscaped and tidied my garden. A truly unique and wonderful experience with Spike and Carrie. I spent 3 weeks at their finca, a beautiful remote spot near the river, fertile land with a wide variety of plants and trees, including an orange orchard and vegetable garden, lots of bird life and two horses roaming freely around the grounds! Ray was our first workaway and the experience was an absolute delight. He has a host of skills that are useful for a finca project like ours and prefers the 'outside' work. I had a pleasant stay with Lourdes, her family, pets and two other volunteers. Very welcoming and friendly, great cook, we ate some nice meals typical to the region. Nice beach and mountains nearby. Very pleased to have the experience!

It was a pleasure to share with Ray for a few weeks at home! Quiet, independent, fully owner of his project that was a beautiful house for the chickens, which he built with all the recycled materials that we found in the garden. Without a doubt, if you need to carry out an ingenious project, Ray is your guy!

Ray arrived just in time. There was an amount of tree trunks to split and stack what he and Siebert did with endless patience during some hot days. Ray was a good workawayer for us. He was always available, friendly, serious and responsable. He helped us in dry stone walling, weeding the vegetable plot and in general maintenance. He wants lo learn and improve himself and his experience.

Big thanks to Brigitte and Philippe for hosting me and welcoming me to their home. The area is fantastic with lots of beautiful places to see.
The work was easy and varied from washing dishes to driving to the bakery! The food was great, 3 lovely meals a day and the caravan was comfy. A good experience :)
