Description
Hi everyone! Feels good to be back! My first Workaway experience happened back in 2019 - I had such a great time. Now I am back for some more.
My name is Aiste, I am 28 years old and even though I am currently residing in the UK (most of the time), I was born and raised in Lithuania. I have a master’s degree in Applied Child Psychology and have spent the past couple of years working at a school for students with special educational needs. Those two years spent in school taught me more than I could ever teach – the lessons of compassion, understanding, open-mindedness, patience, trust and kindness. Back in December 2023 I made a difficult decision to part with this job and go on a journey to rediscover myself and the world around me. I want 2024 to be the year of fun, of having an open mind, of doing what I want to do, of investing in my passions, of learning new and sometimes unexpected skills. That’s when I remembered Workaway and thought – let’s do it!
Many many things bring me joy and I am not hesitant at trying new things. As I mentioned earlier, this year I actively try to invest more time in my interests, which seem to be predominantly artsy – I like analogue photography (I enjoy both taking pictures and processing the film too), drawing, music (at some point I would love to learn electronic music production, but my preferred genres extend further than that), reading.
As well as all things artsy, I like to live an active lifestyle – I enjoy yoga, running, hiking, camping, cycling – I don’t feel myself until I step out of the house to get some fresh air.
As far as I remember myself, I always enjoyed cooking and was very keen to help my mum cook when I was little (even though I believe she preferred some peace and quiet rather than a little Aiste zooming around), my true passion for cooking exploded when I became vegan. It has been a few years since the change of my diet, yet every day the new combinations of veggies and spices that I unexpectedly discover blow me away. I love food and I love sharing this love with others!
Finally, stepping away from my physical hobbies, I endeavour to live my life kindly and compassionately towards all living creatures. I am trying my best to live my life kindly in all ways – inside and out. I have heard a saying that said ‘kindness is what defines us’ and I try to remind this to myself every single day.Centres d’intérêt

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Overall, I am happy to help with whatever comes across. I am not scared of getting my hands dirty or tackling a rather challenging task. I consider myself a hard worker and I always strive for perfection – I can’t stop until I reach the result that I am happy with!
I am a quick learner and I am always excited to learn a new skill.
I am very organised and tidy and consider cleaning as one of my hobbies – it’s just so satisfying! It’s a task that is rewarding in itself.
As I already said earlier, I truly enjoy cooking and sharing food with others. My partner says that curries are my speciality. Besides cooking at home, I have worked in customer service jobs where I had the opportunity to make all types of coffee and work in the kitchen too. Let’s chat about coffee (but start this conversation at your own risk, I may have a lot to say!)
I have spent a fair amount of time throughout my life with my hands buried deep in the soil – digging, landscaping, planting, weeding – you name it. I enjoy taking care of the plants and every year try to grow something myself in my very modest garden (I grow tomatoes, blueberries, lettuce, herbs).
I love working and/or spending time with children and young people. During my time in school, I worked as a teaching assistant, then later as a therapy assistant for students with autism spectrum disorder. As I said before, the time spent in school was incredibly rewarding and educational – I have deepened my knowledge in children and young people’s mental health, I have learned about Speech and Language and Occupational therapies and had an opportunity to deliver some of the sessions myself. Even before I started working at school, I spent many years doing volunteer work with children and young people – organising summer camps, planning weekly activities for youth clubs etc.
Finally, I am not a professional in any shape or form, but I am a firm believer in doing things yourself as much as you can hence I am happy to help with minor DIY tasks, such as painting or sanding.Âge
