I'm a former high school English teacher currently working to heal from life events and build a new life for myself. Workaway and Trusted Housesitters are key to making this a reality for me.

I enjoy hard work, connecting with good people, having meaningful experiences and conversations, and integrating these things into my own life and self. I grew up on a hog farm in SE Minnesota, and my family owned a second farm on which we raised beef cattle, so I'm very familiar w/ physical labor, working with animals, field work, and so on.

I'm not much of a cook, but I enjoy helping to prep, and I could teach classes on how to wash dishes. ;)

Lastly but not least importantly, living in this polarized time as we do, I feel it necessary to state: I will not tolerate bigotry of any sort, be it religious, political, or otherwise. You're free to believe as you do, and so long as I'm free to believe as I do, we might just get along. 'Nuff said.

I struggle w/ C-PTSD and Post Concussion Syndrome. Though I'm doing what I can to heal, I learned much on my first workaway in late 2025.

Some days, without warning, my C-PTSD is triggered and I'll need to step away from the work to rest before getting back at it. So long as yelling, gaslighting, or being held to perfectionist standards are off the menu, these aren't likely to happen very often.

Additionally, I may need to ask for instructions on new tasks more than once. I have a great memory for experiences, but new data doesn't stick in my cranium as it once did. So long as I can write things down to compensate, and my host can be patient w/ my challenges here, I'll be good to go.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As the adopted son of a perfectionist farmer, I share little of his technological and engineering abilities. But I did learn how to work hard on the farm. I'm familiar with a variety of manual labor tasks needed in rural communities. And if the task isn't too complex, I can learn to do it without too much difficulty.

Before leaving for South America, I lived a very limited experience. I have much to rediscover about myself and my interests, and have recently begun to do so, with reading, writing, going for nature walks, and living spontaneously at the top of the list currently.
