I still seek the adventure that life can offer ... Working closely with locals; assisting anyone to achieve their goals; reaping happiness and fulfilment in what I do as a mature, independent lady who maintains a happy, positive attitude.

I have travelled extensively, independently, organising work for myself, including teaching English; Managerial within the hospitality industry (Ski Resorts/Guesthouse/PADI Dive Centers/Entertainment Complex), Reception, Computer work, Garden and Property Maintenance and long-term House and Pet sitting.

I am organised and like to be kept busy, thriving on the satisfaction of mastering a DIY project, as I love DIY. I am pretty handy with large electrical garden equipment and not shy to learn new skills in any field. You will definitely be able to rely on me to get a job done ... well.

I enjoy sailing; scuba diving (I am certified as a PADI Rescue Diver); snow skiing, garden maintenance, decorating, cooking, especially teaching and helping others.

I am currently working as an end of life, live-in, Care Professional, using specialised medical equipment; administering medication caring for elderly clients in their own home who suffer with life threatening illnesses: Dementia; Motor Neurons; Canvas ...

I am seeking long-term placements of 2 months or more, so I can become part of the community and workforce, instead of just passing through. I particularly love learning about different cultures, the way locals live, I get great satisfaction making sure guests are happy with excellent customer service.

To live with four amazing Buddhist nuns, see their lifestyle and learn as much as you can about Buddhism at their very spacious Dhamma Center was one of the most (this is going to be hard to describe how I feel) life enriching, inspiring and educational experiences I have experienced in my life (and I have experienced a lot during my travels over… read more the years). The nuns are attentive and will guide and help in every way they can; with the guidance of chores; teaching of Buddhism (which was an amazing insight to the philosophy of Buddha's teachings) which has made me think deeper as to who we are and how we can be. Words cannot explain! I could go on forever!
The nun's bell will 'gong' at 04:30 (yes, very early, but you soon get used to this beautiful hour of the day) and morning meditation starts at 05:00. At 05:45 we get ready to go into town to collect the daily Alms food; donations of the most delicious Thai food imaginable (we were fed like kings). You gradually become friends with the market sellers and food shop owners, seeing them every day. Huge smiles and lots of love spread around everywhere. About an hour later we arrive back at the Dhamma Centre and the nuns prepare the food whilst we, the workawayers do a few household chores (sweep leaves, clean out the Meditation building) before we eat breakfast. There is a detailed plan of what we have to do each day, which is minimal, taking into account our Dhamma talks. Friday afternoon we are invited to go and teach children at the local school, which is such a delight. So it is preparing an educational, themed game/lesson for them to learn and have fun at the same time. They are adorable; ages around 8-13 yrs. Sometimes 10 children come back to the Dhamma Centre for a sleep over and on Saturday we do something fun with them again ... cooking, games, anything before returning them back to their houses Saturday midday.
Working with and for the nuns is never a chore. It is like looking after your own place. They cannot drive, shop/handle money and many more things we do in general life, so that is why we, as volunteers, go and live with them, to help them in every day tasks; gardening, laundry, cleaning, shopping, sometimes under the supervision of one of the nuns.
Accommodation was so comfortable and everyone gets their own room. We share bath and toilet facilities, which were many and have the freedom of their beautiful gardens and lake.
There is plenty of time to chill and relax, even to go touring local sites, temples and caves.
I loved my time with the nuns. A part of my life (only 3 weeks) I will never forget. If you get the opportunity to be with them, take it and enjoy. :-) Thank you Luangepi Nan, Luange pi Sam, Launge pi Satay and most of all Luangemai. You will always be in my thoughts and heart for giving me such an amazing time and experience into Buddhism. xxx

Tina worked in my Dive and Tour Centre for 4 months. Always with a smile and polite and respectful to all of our customers and staff. Tina helped in all areas to ensure a sooth operation of the Dive and Tour and Centre. It was a shame to see her leave and she will be missed and will always be welcome back to Tulum.
