Hi, I'm Yu, from Kyoto Japan⛩!
Although I'm originally from Japan, I'm currently studying at the university in the U.S. So, though English isn't my first language, I can have everyday conversations in English. I traveled solo for 6 months using Workaway from 2023 to 2024, and it was a life-changing experience. I've learned that experiencing different cultures, adjusting to new environments, and traveling isn't always easy-but it's so worth it. Since I've already experienced 6 months solo travel and met new people from all over the world, I'd like to say with confidence that I'll do my best to support you and hopefully become your lifelong Japanese friend - some friends who I met during my trip came visit me in Japan! I’d love to tell you about many things related to Japan and exchange cultures as well as languages.
I desire to broaden my perspective and find my identity by learning about different cultures and interacting with people from different backgrounds.
Since I have had a live-in part-time job, which is kind of a temporary job, several times in Japan, I would get used to my new job soon. As many Japanese are said, I'd say I'm a hard worker, very considerate to people around me(have a good eye for details), and open to other cultures, so I'm a really flexible person for everyone to be able to enjoy sharing time.
If you accept me, I could help:
1. Housekeeping(I'm working as a housekeeper in the hotel, which is famous for its great Japanese hospitality)
2. Making something (I'm good with my hands and creative; I'm good at Japanese origami and knitting and sewing! I've made my dog's clothes, accessories, and knick-knacks before! So if you're interested in it, I can teach you or make something for you:)
3. Baby sitting (I was a nanny for 4 kids in Australia.)
4. Outdoor things (I love sports and used to do baseball, swimming, and volleyball when I was a student. I still go to the gym and sometimes go running, so I'm confident with my physical strength.)
5. DIY, construction, painting, gardening
6. Whatever I can! (I'm an active person and love exercise!)

The reason why I want to experience foreign life through 'Workaway' is because definitely not money, but want to broaden my horizon, know the new world, and make many friends all over the world🌎

I can teach Japanese🇯🇵
I love exercising and outdoor activities. One of my strong points is that I'm the type of person who is curious and active, I did baseball, volleyball, swimming, and play the piano, so I could do these things with other people or children!!
Also, I'm good with my hands, so I can teach Japanese origami as well as knitting and sewing!
Since I've worked at the hotel as a housekeeper, I can help with housekeeping as well!
I've never worked as a cook, but I can make some Japanese dishes, so if you're interested in Japanese food, I'm willing to cook for you!!
