Description

I am Tham, from Vietnam, a charming country located in Southeast Asia. My roots trace back to the countryside, where I was nurtured amidst rice paddies, cornfields, and soybean crops. Watching tiny seeds evolve into bountiful fruits, vibrant leaves, or colorful, nutritious roots has always been a source of profound joy for me. This transformative process, from seed to harvest, is undeniably rewarding.

My passion for agriculture is deeply intertwined with a profound concern for sustainable farming practices that harmonize human activities with the environment. I've devoted considerable attention to organic farming, permaculture, as well as high-tech farming recognizing their vital role in preserving our planet. My journey in this field began with four months of hands-on experience at an organic farm in Vietnam, followed by an enriching stint at a Dutch seed company. Subsequently, I worked as a farm manager at a Japanese company, specializing in strawberry cultivation.

Driven by an insatiable curiosity and an unwavering commitment to sustainable agriculture, I embarked on a two-year journey in Europe, spanning three diverse countries—Spain, France, and The Netherlands. This educational odyssey provided me with a panoramic view of sustainable agriculture, enriched by invaluable technical insights.

My current focus lies in exploring the potential of beneficial insects as a sustainable alternative to agrochemicals. Recognizing the pivotal role of biodiversity in nurturing sustainable farming systems, I am particularly drawn to Southeast Asia's rich and untapped ecological diversity. My aspiration is to traverse the region, getting to know various farming systems and the plethora of flora and fauna, with a special emphasis on insects. These explorations will serve as the bedrock for my future projects in advancing sustainable agriculture in this vibrant corner of the world.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I had time working on an organic farm in Vietnam which is certified by the USDA and European Union, so I have a basic understanding of how the system works and growing techniques on various crops like kale, cauliflowers, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, shallots and onions. I got used to all the activities of sowing, seedlings caring, composting, fertilizing, weeding, and harvesting. I also could manage a farm and maintain some facilities.
I can work individually and in a team. During the time of working, I prioritize the tasks for myself and others a list in order to get the job done nicely.
I know how to use Microsoft to support my daily job.
I know how to cook some Vietnamese dishes like Pho, and Nem.

I enjoy doing yoga, playing board games, and reading books in my free time. If the weather on the weekends is nice, I am always up for some hikes in nature.
