Description

Hi, I’m Maya! I just travelled British Columbia (Canada) and the West Coast of the US. Now I am back home in Austria. Last spring I graduated from highschool and wanted a break out from my small city life in Austria - I landed in Northern America :) Before starting to study political science in autumn 2024 in Vienna, I want to gain new experiences and get to know like-minded people by travelling. Much of my happiness is found outside being in nature (especially mountains), good conversations and making meaningful connections with people. I would describe myself as a very social, ambitious, open-hearted and cheerful person who always has a laugh on her face :))

I feel passionate about experiencing different ways of living, sharing knowledge, ideas and be an active part of sustainability projects, which are fighting the climate crisis.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

In general, I like to learn and am interested in learning new skills. In the past I've already worked in a small restaurant at a camping site, also as a babysitter and on a horse farm, so I also have experience in horse care and cleaning stables. Last summer, I was working as a producer assistant in the local theatre in Gmunden (the city I am from) and used to work for the local movie theatre for several years - I found that I really enjoy the cultural sector! Since I’ve been working on farms the past months in BC I have gardening and outdoor work experience, also during BC‘s fall weather ;) Plus, I helped on the farm of the retreat center "Esalen Institute" in Califonria for one month in December. I do also have a drivers licence.

Since I grew up with a brother, who was born with Down-Syndrome, and have also babysitted children with disabilities, I’ve great experience in dealing with disabled people.

I like to cook and have a little bit of stage experience by acting and giving speeches. I enjoy to work in team! As a member of the Fridays For Future movement I’ve attended several climate conventions and political discourses on the topic Climate Crisis and Climate Justice. I am always curious to have constructive conversations on this topic!

Spending four months with workaway in the US and Canada I fell in love with the concept of Workaway and found meaningful connections in this part od the world, which feel like family. I am looking forward to extend my family in Scandinacia!

Since I learned English, French and Latin in school, I would enjoy to help with these languages as well as with my mother language German.

I am curious to acquire new knowledge as well as physical skills :)
