Hello!

My name is Marina and I am travelling with my friend Quentin!
We love to travel. We’ve visited many places and we believe that Workaway is the best way to truly experience a place and meet amazing people.

In the future, we dream of building our own tiny house in Switzerland, with a beautiful garden. We love learning new skills and sharing knowledge. We’re both very handy — we’ve already built a van from scratch and renovated a house.

We enjoy spending time outdoors, whether the weather is good or bad. We love taking care of children or elderly people, and above all, we enjoy cooking and reading a good book. We’re vegetarian, but we respect everyone’s choices and would be happy to cook something delicious to share a meal together.

We are an adventurous and curious couple, but we also value peace and quiet at the end of the day. We like to drink a cup of tea and meditate before going to sleep. We’re not really party people, but we do enjoy a late-night conversation from time to time.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have done lots of jobs in my life. I began being a lawyer and a teacher. I teached french and english in school. I also love being outside and volunteer. So I help farmers from my neighbourhood grow their food and I also go on walks with elderly people each Sunday. I am good at building things (since I built my van and renovate my house) and I really like to cook (and I like to taste new food too). I often do some yoga and love biking. I know how to swim and ski. In the winter, I am a ski teacher in Switerland.

I’ll start by saying that this was an incredible experience. Thank you Eddy and thank you for this month we spent together. The students are lovely, always very curious, and I’m truly impressed by the fact that they dedicate their time—after long, intense school days—to improving their English. The classes are lively and full of positive energy. … read more But the lessons could be better organized, and if you’re looking for something that will give you solid teaching experience, this might not be ideal.

On the other hand, if you want to discover another culture, this is the perfect place ☺️

The room next to the house js very cozy. You have your own keys and a very comfortable bed, as well as a toilet and a shower. There is Wi-Fi in the main house, which you can barely pick up from the room, but it was enough for me.

As for the food, Eddy’s wife cooks extremely well. Only two meals a day are included, and I often had to buy my own meals when Novie was absent. To wash your clothes, you also need to go to a laundromat.

For the schedule, it says 4 hours of work, 5 days a week, but it’s often more. In the morning, you go to schools for promotion (which can easily last 3 to 4 hours), and in the afternoon, there are 3 hours of classes. So there are more working hours than stated. But if you love contact with the kids, it will feel like no work at all

Mr. Eddy loves showing you around his region and introducing you to local food. I really loved that. The landscapes around the city are breathtaking, and if you have a motorbike license, it’s definitely worth going for a ride! I explored the region a bit with Mr. Eddy, but most of it was with the students and the teachers from the school. So a big thank you to them as well 🙏🏼 Surrounding yourself with women here is very important, as they are attentive and share a lot. Building a connection with them is truly a blessing and will bring you a lot. I was even invited to learn how to cook at Haina’s home, and that was probably the best moment of my stay.

Here, if you are a woman, you will receive a lot of attention from men, which can sometimes be very intense and occasionally inappropriate. There are many rules to follow, and it’s important to be well informed before coming.

It was a wonderful stay that allowed me to discover a side of Indonesia that I previously knew too little about.

We absolutely loved this little temple, it's an amazing place in a beautiful region. We are very thankful to Kai and Kenshi for giving us this opportunity and hosting us these 3 weeks.
