Description
Someone who likes new adventures, exploring the world and hopefully learning something out of it. My current goal is to improve my fluency in spanish!
I love reading - I try to read books in different languages in their original versions (portuguese, english, french, spanish) so I keep practicing the languages I know.
I currently work 2 jobs: I have been working in IT for 8 years now. Additionally, to gain more freedom, I recently started my own travel business, focused on planning trips according to people's needs and budget.
I'm passionate about social justice. I share my thoughts and experiences through talks, social media and TV.
If it is possible to interview you / capture some images of your place to promote a culture of collaboration, I would love to do that - I am always keen to learn more! If not, don't worry - it's not a deal breaker.
I have been involved in a lot of volunteering projects, both with children and adults. I also love animals. I have a dog called Frida, my best friend :) Frida is super friendly, loves people, children, cozy environments and the outdoors. I'd love to bring her with me while volunteering (if the location is Portugal or Spain).
Being an active citizen is crucial to me. I have lived in a volunteering community for 6 months in the English countryside (about 10 years ago) where we divided all tasks including cleaning and cooking. After that, I spent other 6 months in Zambia, working in a development aid project focused on education and health. This was the longest time I volunteered for.
Over the last 3 years, I have been participating one short-term volunteering projects, one per year. My last projects were in Slovenia (people with disabilities), Belgium (people with disabilities) and Greece (migrants). Also, I am part of a board of the Lisbon Cerebral Palsy Association in Lisbon, Portugal. In Portugal, besides volunteering with people with disabilities, I have also assisted migrants.
I become a workawayer in 2023. My first experience was in Paris, France.
Last year, I received two Workawayers at my place and a 2 couchsurfers :)
I'm not physically able to perform hard physical work tasks such as construction and lifting weights, but I'm able to perform any other tasks. I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty!
I have got a drivers license for automatic transmission only.
