Description

My name is Lorena Ferri, I am Italian and I am 52 years old. For over twenty years I have been a member of a social cooperative based in Bologna, for which I work in the role of educator and psychologist. In this period of time I have been involved in offering support to minors in family homes, to adults with drug addiction problems and for 5 years to unaccompanied foreign minors.
For 15 years I have taught flamenco dance to disabled children, creating shows and essays at the end of the annual course.
From January to March 2023 I was in Senegal where, with the support of Open Arms Senegal, I offered my voluntary contribution as a teacher in a school for girls in Saint Louis. I proposed training in the catering sector (making pizza), in the high fashion sector and a short basic Italian course.
My working life is based on the knowledge of others, on the helping relationship, and it is in this dimension that I find enthusiasm, curiosity and the desire to experiment in new contexts and cultures.
Thanks to this experience in Senegal I understood that traveling and gaining experience abroad enriches me.
I make myself available for help in relationships and care in general and in organizing activities related to dance and rhythm. Alternatively, having good manual skills, I could be useful in simple craft jobs (for example, use of recycled materials for the production of objects, an activity I have been involved in for 4 years). In exchange, I would like to deepen my knowledge of the local language.
