Hello!

My name is Leigh. I am 24 years old and am from Salt Lake City, Utah.
I graduated from the University of Utah last year where I got a bachelors degree in Marketing and a minor in Environmental Sustainability studies.

My passions include skiing, climbing, cooking, drawing, making long lasting connections likeminded humans, and seasonal work!

I am adaptable, communicative, positive, a team player, and am not afraid to get my hands dirty!

Here's a bit of background of the seasonal work I've been doing throughout college and post-grad.

When I was 17, I discovered a passion for working in summer camps.I was a camp counselor for the YMCA I grew up attending, and met folks who worked at other YMCA's in the country. I decided to take every summer after that to work at various YMCA's in the United States. I have been a camp counselor at YMCA camps in Maine, Hawai'i, and Colorado. I decided to spend additional summer at the camp in Colorado, where I became an assistant director to one of their outdoor adventure youth programs. This program got hundreds of Colorado youth ages 13 to 17 backpacking, rafting, mountain biking, climbing, surfing, and volunteering for communities in need.

After getting my bachelors degree in Marketing, a friend connected me to a job with US Ski and Snowboard. I am currently on my second winter season working for them, where I work as an event coordinator for professional freestyle skiing and snowboarding competitions!

I feel so blessed to have had these opportunities for seasonal work. It's made me want to continue this lifestyle for as much as possible. Meeting new people, working with children, spending time outdoors, and travel are all things that bring me the most happiness-- and I'm ready to take this passion overseas! :-)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have worked as a camp counselor for three summers and a summer camp director for the last two summers. I have extensive experience working with children ages 4-17 in both a summer camp setting and in backcountry adventure settings. I have helped lead backpacking trips, horse-packing trips, and day trips involving mountain biking, rafting, and climbing. Lastly, I have led an array of classes for summer camp kiddos including yoga classes, creative writing classes, and climbing walls/courses.

I am an avid skier and have taken my Avalanche 1 course where I was able to familiarize myself and practice safety drills that are essential for backcountry skiing. I feel my best when I am zooming around on my skis! :-)

I speak Spanish at an intermediate level but am really wanting to better my overall proficiency. It is one of my biggest goals to become fluent in Spanish.

I feel that my interpersonal skills are one of my greatest assets. I have exceptional communication skills, and enjoy harboring new friendships wherever my work takes me. I believe that small-talk is an essential key to human connection, and I value any moment where that kind of magic can take place!

Lastly, physical exercise is a huge part of my life. I love lifting weights, running, yoga, climbing, and ski touring. This are the activities that make me feel the most alive- so I try to do one of those things every day!

Lastly, I love to travel. I tread light, and can adapt to new environments well. I share small living spaces without an issue, and love to meet folks who are also looking for adventure! I am very willing to do manual labor, cook meals, clean, and assist with childcare in exchange for a place to sleep!
