Hello! My name is Lauren and I look forward to meeting you.

I left my career back in Australia and in April last year and have been travelling ever since. I love spending my time exploring, experiencing what life is like for people in different cultures and parts of the world, and writing.

I have done a number of Workaways before - helping at hostels, helping on farms or at airbnbs, building websites and doing some translation work. I am happy to do what work needs to be done and to try new things.

I have been working in the Aboriginal sector as a consultant and want to continue to learn about different cultures and connect with communities across the world. I have Australian Aboriginal heritage myself so I can teach you about this. I also love any opportunity to connect with or learn about other Indigenous cultures.

My hobbies include: writing and creativity, birdwatching, movies and languages. I'd love to share these with my hosts.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Back home I have always worked in roles that require relating to and connecting with people from many different walks of life, and would say this is my best quality.

In terms of work, I am always happy to get my hands dirty, learn new things and challenge myself. Doing Workaways has meant I've spent hours gardening and harvesting, made a chicken coop, made/fixed up multiple websites, learnt about history of an area/group to do tours for tourists, cleaned accomodations, attended community events, and learnt spanish.

My español is at a conversational level, and this is something I would really like to improve on this trip.

While I am not qualified with any trade, the best thing I can bring is my intrigue for other ways of living, and am excited at the prospect of learning skills I can bring into my life back home along the way.

This experience with Marcel and Romi, Manu, Matí, and the dogs Uma and Clandestino was incredible. They are so welcoming. Not only that, every person who stayed in the hostel was in love with it, with multiple people asking to volunteer. Together they have created such a close knit family which is unlike any other hostel.

Lauren was a joy to host. Both Barry and Ursula are amazing humans and were very quick to welcome me into their home. I stayed with them for 2 weeks and loved the experience (it was my first workaway).
