Description

Hi, I'm Kyle :)

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and moved to Vancouver in 2017 for a BSc. in Chemistry and fell in love with the beautiful BC nature. I then moved to Bologna, Italy to pursue an MSc. in Photochemistry and Molecular Materials and just graduated in July 2024. It has been eye-opening to absorb a new culture and learn a new language.

I love meeting new people and sharing experiences with others and getting to see this beautiful planet we live on. After working endlessly for months to obtain my Master's degree, I plan to take some time to focus on myself and travel. I have never been to Asia or South America, and I think Workaway would be an incredible opportunity to do so.

I am a scientist, so I naturally have a curiosity for the world and an appreciation for the majesty of its complexity. My interests include cooking (and eating), exploring nature, working out and playing sports, learning new things, going to concerts or festivals (electronic music mostly), meeting new people, and lots more.

I try to bring a lot of gratitude, appreciation, and compassion for the little things in life. I'm passionate about living healthy and having a positive impact on the world. I would really love to live a mostly self-sustained life in the future, so I am interested in learning more about gardening, taking care of animals, and general eco-sustainability projects.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a scientist with a Bachelor's and Master's degree, which shows I have a high level of work ethic, critical thinking, and ability to apply myself. I moved to Italy by myself for graduate school, which shows I am independent and can adapt to foreign environments.

I learned a strong, basic level of Italian during my time and have only gained interest in learning other languages, including Spanish and South Korean.

I also have 2+ years of experience as the President of a club, so I know how to be a leader and effectively communicate with others and work as a team.

I fell in love with cooking over 10 years ago when I was in highschool and worked in a restaurant as a Line Cook for over a year, so I have a strong ability in the kitchen. I also love to stay active and physically fit, so I am able to do manual labour.

I had many small pets growing up, but haven't personally had a dog or cat. I have had roommates with dogs, however, and have taken them on walks and other general care. I love animals and would be comfortable taking care of them. I intend on having some in the future when I am more settled down in one place.

I believe I have a strong base level of skills that allows me to be adaptable to many different situations and I aim to treat people with compassion, patience, respect, and positivity. I appreciate you reading this far :)

I mentioned my hobbies previously, but I'll say that I am open-minded and love to try new things. I can very much go with the flow and explore whatever activities are available in my local environment.
