Hello! As a recent retiree I am ready for travel and adventure! I'm especially looking for cultural exchanges, language immersion and interesting opportunities to volunteer within a family. Now that I am an empty nester (my daughter is grown and no longer lives at home) I have the time and flexibility to do what I want.

My daughter and I have hosted ten international exchange students while my daughter was growing up. This was a way for us to bring the greater world into our home and to our small town. We cherish the long-lasting friendships we continue to have with many of these girls around the world.

I love the outdoors anytime of year for hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, bird watching, or quietly reading in the garden. I live in a four-season climate, and I believe it's important to get outdoors every day no matter how cold or snowy it may be.

I'm looking for a position where I would be immersed within your family life--sharing meals, conversation, cuisine and laughter. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact me!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm a keen gardener and like to play in the dirt-- planting, weeding, harvesting. I like to grow and preserve my food through canning, pickling and drying. I also make maple syrup each winter from trees in my yard. My hens supply me with fresh eggs every day. In summer my daughter and I go to nearby pick-your-own farms to gather fruits from which we make jams, sauces and compotes.

I'm a devoted do-it-yourselfer. The sense of accomplishment from making or repairing something is very satisfying. My creative problem solving skills serve me well in my DIY projects including sewing, painting, cooking, knitting and small household repairs. I enjoy figuring out how things work.

Volunteering is an important part of my life. I have been active in many community organizations including our schools, public library, community theatre, land conservancies, recreational groups and a volunteer-based movie theatre. Working with others energizes me.

I love puzzles--word puzzles, jigsaws, etc and family game nights. Preparing meals side by side with others is very fun for me.
