Hi! I am Jessica, I am from Australia and I am 26 years old. I am currently taking a year off working as an engineer to spend time outdoors hiking, learning about farming and sustainability, and learning German.

I have always loved travelling and love seeing and experiencing new things. I have chosen to spend some time in Austria as my grandfather was Austrian and I would like to learn the language and about the culture.

Some of my other hobbies include painting, playing piano and ukulele (although I am a beginner), scuba diving, running, and writing.

I go about my life with a positive attitude and am enthusiastic, hard working, and eager to learn! :)

I am interested in learning German. I have taken some classes however am looking to speak with others. I am currently not very strong but am putting effort in to learn. I spent a couple months in Austria last year and improved a little but still have a lot more to learn! I can speak English and am happy to help teach.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I grew up on a property in Australia on the outskirts of Canberra. There is a horse riding school and an orchard which I would help prune and harvest fruit from. I would help out in the vegetable garden when I had the time as well. Some days I would help my father fix fences and water leaks. While I have had this experience as a child as I have gotten older and with school, university and work, I have unfortunately not had a lot of time to spend on the farm so I am very excited to spend time helping out and outdoors!

I have worked as an engineer for the last couple years on a range of different energy related projects and am always willing to learn and to take on a challenge.

I have experience working with children and young people, in Australia I volunteered monthly at a program called Buddies day through the organisation St Vincent de Paul where we ran weekend activities for vulnerable children. I also volunteered fortnightly for the Redcross night cafe where we provided services (food, showers, accommodation, clothing) to young people experiencing homelessness. I also have two younger siblings so often would look after them when growing up!

I can cook and bake and help out around the house! I love cooking and sharing what I have cooked with others!

My German speaking skills are not very strong but I am putting a lot of effort in to learn. Last year I took a 3 month German class. I also did classes for a couple years as a child. I speak English (my native language) fluently and I can speak Mandarin conversationally.
