SUMMARY:
We are a married couple interested to embark upon another Workaway experience after a few years of focusing on our own country house renovation project. We are easy-going and open minded.

So far we had 3 Workaway experiences in 2016-17 (1x in Sardinia - see the reference and 2x in Australia - our account expired before the reference time :)

We would like to spend a month in Italy this spring - Martin would love to be involved in creating art and Jana would like to practice her sparse Italian - learning since 2024) - we can offer our rich experience ranging from DYI, renovation, gardening, cooking, computer experience to general maintenance.

We have a dog - Spajky (8 years old) that we would like to take onboard with us. He is a lovely mongrel rescued dog (castrated), well used to people and traveling.

We bought an old house built in the 50's on a nearly 1 hectare ground in 2014 in the countryside of Slovakia and have been redoing the house and the garden since then. Originally we planned to move there for good, but we figured currently the flexibility of moving between the city and the countryside suits us best. We are spending there all free time restoring, gardening, creating artistic objects, enjoying the air and open nature. We are growing the fruit and veg in an organic way and try to become as much sustainable as possible. We built our own reed bed based on a manual (an aquatic plant-based filtration system).

In the future we plan to become Workaway hosts ourselves. When we do not have so much energy to travel anymore, we would like the world to travel to us :)
We truly believe that we can positively influence the world by building communities, meeting other cultures and sharing inspiration and experience.

Jana works in training&development industry as a consultant and learning designer and is interested in living in a regenerative way (speaks English, German and is learning Italian). Martin is a creative chef in the cooking school and also a self-taught artist in the Recycled Art. He loves breathing life into old objects and items considered trash by others (speaks English).

In the pasted we lived and worked nearly 6 years in Ireland, Jana spent half a year studying in Australia back in 2001/2.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Martin is a creative chef and artist, works as a lecturer in cooking school, with handy hands: wood chopping, fence building, old furniture restoration, creating trash art/objects in the garden, gardening, redesigning space...
Jana works until the end of May in training/development company. Is also an ITEC/CIBTAC qualified massage therapist (Swedish massage, hot stones, aromatherapy). In the countryside she loves gardening, harvesting herbs and seasonal fruit in the meadows and drying them for herbal teas or making natural oils.
