Hello, my name is Janka.
I spent my last year focusing on my studies and preparing for a hard exam. I reached my goal, I was admitted to college, so I decided to take a gap year before I let myself over to science. I would like this year to be about adventures.
I like to spend time with my thoughts and I read a lot. Examining human nature through art has always interested me. I dived deep into hungarian literature and I also read many psychological essays. Now however, I’m looking for real life experiences and I’m hungry for some work close to nature. Manual work attracts me the most. I think it’s a good way to improve practical skills and also get out of the hustle of everyday life.
I’m a socially active and sesitive person. Meaningful conversations are my favorite way to connect. I’m open to get to know new cultures and I’m happy to share mine. I’m also looking for opportunities to help people. I’d like to work together towards a common goal or create something special as a community. I really believe in team spirit.
Although I live in a big city, I feel a strong desire to stay in the countryside. Every time I leave the city I feel a great sense of curiosity and belonging.
I haven’t particapated in the Workaway program yet, however I was in Italy multiple times and I travelled to Portugal with an Erasmus program. Through my many connections I had the chance to gain insight into the mediterranian worldview. I like the laid back attitude and the curiosity towards strangers. The inherent openness to art and culture is something i can strongly relate to. The italian way of life is especially close to my heart.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

When I was jounger I used to go horse riding and I visited lots of riding halls, through that I could get familiar with farm life. Altough I grew up in the capital and my family lives a tipical city life, I easily adapted to the riding hall’s everyday life. When I was there I usually cleaned the barn, I fed not just horses but other animals too, I gave a hand during horseshoeing and I taught children how to groom. I had no problem with shoveling waste either.
I have experience in hospitality because I’ve been working in an ice cream shop for three years now. This year I also worked as a waitress in a jazz club. I know how to serve and communicate with customers properly. This field of work requires extra cleanliness so I also do that a lot.
I speak English. In high school I also studied Italian because of my love for the country. One of my goals is to improve it.
I get along with children no matter what language they speak. I visited ukrain refugees with a friend of mine a couple of times. I spent days playing with children who couldn’t go to school because of their unfortunate living situation. We had a common language with some kids, but with the ones I didn’t, I had to get creative and think of other fun games to play.
Since I just finished my studies, I don’t have a lot of experience with manual labor yet, but I can safely say that I’m a really fast learner. I pick up new skills easily, I’m dedicated and determined.
