Hello! My name is Jack, and I am from the midwestern area of the US. I am 23 years old and recently finished my university studies in business.

I have been backpacking Europe for the summer to immerse myself in other ways of life and to meet new people. I am now exploring volunteer opportunities to first, help an organization fulfill their mission, and second, to experience a new environment for an extended period of time.

I am able to connect with most people I come across. I enjoy listening to individual's stories and understanding how and why people live their lives. I look forward to connecting!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

The most recent skills I have put to use are based on my university studies. I recently graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. I had two on campus jobs:

My main job was a tutor for the college of business writing center. Here, assisted my peers with many types of writing assignments, such as research papers, slideshows, and presentations. The most important skills for this position were attention to detail, active listening, and being resourceful.

I was also a dining assistant in one of the main dining centers. My responsibilities revolved around maintaining multiple areas at once and prepping materials for cooks. I needed to be adaptable and organized for this role.

Away from school, I volunteered at a local animal shelter for many years to help dogs find a forever home. My time here always seemed less like work and more like play. I almost always connect well with other people but have NEVER met a dog I don't get along with. My main job was to take care of things that allowed full time staff to fulfill other duties, such as:
- clean kennels, fill water bowls, and feed dogs at their regularly scheduled time
- take dogs for walks or play with them in outdoor enclosures
- Assist potential new pet owners in the adoption process

I have also been involved in many other lines of work over the last 10 years:
-Summer sales intern for an investment firm
-Founder and owner of a marine detailing company.
-Dock hand for a gas dock and boat rental agency
-Supervisor for a cafe
-Youth soccer referee

Many of these positions were fast paced and required me to learn on the job. Each of these roles taught me more about what it means to be a leader, both when I was the one that needed to lead others or if I needed to follow somebody else's lead.

Above all, I am open to many new experiences and like helping out in any way I can. Many of the aforementioned roles I had came as a result of me saying "yes" to something I was unfamiliar with.
